I chose Infantry as my MOS. i chose it because i didn't want no desk job or anything like that. From what i hear about it, it isn't fun all of the time. its long hour...it just sucks. but its the best job there is. i wanted something that will challenge me. I also heard that the brother hood is on a higher level. i can't really describe on a good level why i signed on for infantry. (you know how sometimes when you know why you want to do something but can't explain it to other people, thats how i feel about infantry). I understand that i will not be in a kickin in doors and shooting the bad guys ALL the time. it's mostly boredom from what i hear and standing around. correct me if im wrong. I can care less if it transfers me to a good job or not, i didnt sign up for the military to help me get good job when i get out (if i do) i signed up to serve the Country i live in. i leave for Boot Camp July 13

I read as much as I could find by DeepRecon and many others regarding Recon. I think I will let things play out as the Corps sees fit for me. Option UZ looks like a candy-trap for young "kill'em all" guys. I could be wrong but I think I will end up in Recon if I earn it with or without UZ.

I can't say the dive training doesn't seem like fun though. I really wish PADI would incorporate some of that stuff for civilians. I'd bet that guy would of had a lot more trouble killing his wife on their Honeymoon if she knew half the stuff they teach in the pool.

For now I'm going Infantry and I'll change my MOS by Lat-move or Re-Enlistment if I find something I cannot live without doing.

Thanks for the advice Marines.

I feel as though I hijacked this Thread. Sorry.

Carlos... you are in no position to be giving advice since you have no clue what it is we do. Keep your opinions to yourself while we (Marines) answer questions.

215 good choice on Infantry given your background. Normally we blow people off about going Recon but your maturity is coming through which is why it's being suggested to you.

Ricky Recons are simply higher trained infantrymen with their own specialized missions whereas regular infantrymen are general purpose forces who seize, occupy and defend in zone. You could be riding in the back of an amtrac, jumping out of helicopters or paddling in on a raiding raft, it simply depends on which company you draw in which Grunt Battalion.

Good luck future Grunt.

Today i was handed a poem to read. I read it and handed it back with a "why?" look on my face. To this they said "How did it make you feel?" Roll Eyes "I don't know, hungry?"
"You have no imagination or feelings!" Violin "No, what I don't have is time for you to waste with this crap at work!" Angry Whip

January is too far away!

I appreciate the suggestion for Recon. I will set that as a goal. But for right now school in the fall and running DeepRecon's daily PT are at the top of my list. One step at a time.

Again thank you Marine.

Sorry Marines.
I'm not very good at relaying funny things. All I meant to do was show how yesterday showed me yet again how undisciplined today's youth are and how thankful I am to have a chance to join the Corps. I did not mean to offend.
