I have tried to find the answer before and cannot seem to find it. I went to MEPS a while back to join the Army as an infantryman. It was not until then that I found I that i am colorblind. I was told that I could not be infantry because of this. Later i heard that in the Marines a red/green color blind person can be in infantry. Can anyone clarify for me?

Hate to sound redundant, but talking to a recruiter might help. Policies for entry into the different services change, and recruiters are on top of it for the most part. More so than current/former enlisted/officers.

Best advise = talk to a recruiter.

On a side note, I was Infantry and am colorblind FYI.

Here's your answer, straight out of the manual:

UH-INFANTRY OPTION

0300 Infantry
0311 Rifleman
0313 LAV Crewman (Second Class Swimmer upon completion of recruit training)
0321 Reconnaissance Man (See special note below)
0331 Machinegunner
0341 Mortarman
0351 Assaultman
0352 Antitank Assault Guided Missile Man

Program Notes:
• The Geographic Option (GOP) and College Enlistment Programs (CEP) are not available for this option.
• Eligibility for Recon is: GT105, Normal Color Perception, U. S. Citizenship, 1st Class Swim, and 1st Class PFT.
Marines must be eligible for a Secret Clearance. Eligible Marines will be screened after Recruit Training.
Marines who wish to volunteer for Recon should inform their Platoon Sergeant while at Infantry Training Batallion.

If you want to become a Reconnaissance Marine, you MUST have normal color perception. However, this doesn't apply to the basic 03XX Marine. Hope this helps.
