I am 19 years old and currently a sophmore taking classes at a junior college. By the end of the summer, I will have obtained 61 college credit hours and an general studies associates. I have been contemplating over whether or not I would rather enlist AD or get involved with the PLC program and become an officer. If one chooses the PLC route, do they still have to attend boot camp? Also, does the Marine Corps allow one to complete his or her four year degree in any desired major, or is it limited to certain fields of concentration? Finally, is there a certain time frame that one must be admitted/accepted into the PLC program? Thanks to all Marines who reply, I really appreciate your help.

PLC candidates attend OCS, not Boot Camp.

Depending on when you join the PLC, you may attend 2 6-week sessions of OCS or 1 10-week session.

If you already have a BA or BS, you will attend a 10-week session called OCC.

The Marine Corp will offer you a commission based on the successful completion of OCS and a bachelors degree in any discipline.

Contact your nearest Marine Officer Selection Officer (OSO) for details. There is usually a Marine OSO at every major college and university. Contact your local recruiter if you have difficulty locating the OSO.

Thanks DeepRecon.

One other question. I read that it said upon completion of OCS, you would be in the area of either land, air, or law. If land is chosen, does that basically mean you are an officer in the infantry?
