I just have a few questions about the VA loan offer. I was told by my recruiter that after i get out i can get a 0 down payment mortgage. I am looking into starting a business with my father after i get out and i was wondering if this loan could be applied to a business instead of personal? I dont really know much about the VA benifits so i figured I'd ask.

VA loans

VA Home loans are for homes, not for businesses.

quote:
ELIGIBLE LOAN PURPOSES
You may use VA-guaranteed financing:
• To buy a home.
• To buy a townhouse or condominium unit in a project that has been approved by VA.
• To build a home.
• To repair, alter, or improve a home.
• To simultaneously purchase and improve a home.
.
• To improve a home through installment of a solar heating and/or cooling system or other
energy efficient improvements.
• To buy a manufactured (mobile) home and/or lot.
• To buy and improve a lot on which to place a manufactured home which you already
own and occupy.
• To refinance a manufactured home loan in order to acquire a lot. (See VA Pamphlet
26-71-1, which is available on the internet at:
http://www.homeloans.va.gov/VAP26-71-1.htm, for more information about manufactured
home loans.)

2. Can a veteran get a VA business loan?
No, but business loans may be obtained through the SBA (Small Business Administration). The SBA gives preference to veterans wishing to obtain small business assistance. For more information on this financing, consult your telephone directory for the SBA office nearest you or visit www.vetbiz.gov for general information on veterans in business.

The "veteran loan offer" you speak of is for business is not through the VA, is it through the Small Business Administration:

Office of Veterans Business Development

they are not one in the same...

VA Loans with $0 down are for homes, not for business.

That is an exceptional post Former.

As a footnote they're telling active dutys they only need 25 months service to qualify for the home loan.

Wonder how it will all pan out if they pass the new GI Bill? Given that this is an election year they'll probably expand everything even more like they did after WWII where small business loans will become even more available as part of the readjustment package. One can only pray so we'll see.
