I heard that if you are in PLC you are also or can be a reservist in the Marines. Is this true? Also, how old do you have to be to participate in this program?
I thought the minimum age was 18? I had three friends who were with me filling out the application (I was 19 at the time). Maybe they did not submit it until later and I am just wrong ...
Additionally, I am confused by his question. I think he was asking "If I join PLC am I a reservist?", whereby the answer is most definitely no.
Or was he asking "If I am a reservist, can I join PLC", whereby the answer is yes.
so the Marines do have something along the lines of the Armys SMP? where you are reseve enlist and enroll in the officers course for your junior and senior year of college?

NEGATIVE!!!!
PLC and the USMCR are two different enitities all together!!!!
You can be both USMCR and PLC, BUT you don't have to be in the USMCR to enroll in PLC.
Unlike the Army's SMP, you can be deployed in the USMCR, PLC or not. In the Army SMP, you're not deployable unless you drop out of the program.

You are right it is 18! back in the '90s the minimum age was 19.
I would assume so. There is a frost call that says if you are in PLC and have completed Juniors and have orders to Seniors, you are exempt from deployments. The order actually expires 30 Sept 2007.
I am assuming that those without orders to Seniors are deployable.
