I've asked these two questions to my recruiter, and so far, these are the only questions I've asked him that he really wasn't sure the answer was. I'm asking here to see if any of the Marines on this forum have had this problem, or known of another Marine who has.

I've gone from weighing 350 pounds to 190 in the last two years, and I have a question about whether or not I'll be able to have some loose skin removed after Boot Camp, if I complete it successfully. I only have a little bit of skin that just doesn't seem to want to tighten up, none of which is noticable when I'm wearing a shirt. I think the majority of what's left is where I haven't been up enough muscle, but given that I'm 6'2 and I've been told that my maximum weight limit is 208 I don't know if another 15 pounds of muscle would be enough to really fill everything out....

My question is if any Marine here knows whether or not I'll be able to have the surgery once I check into my unit? I think boot camp will take care of most of it, but if it doesn't then I'd like to have it done. And if I can't then it's no big deal. I'd just like to know if any Marine here knows the answer.

And my second question. I'm going to try and get into the Platoon Leader's Course. I really have to get my PFT scores up and everything and it's going to be a rough battle just to get in, but if I know a second language will that help my profile stand out amongst the rest? Will it help at Officer Candidate School as well? I can half-way speak French and Bosnian now which doesn't help me now, but I'm only a junior in college so it will be another two years at least before I can apply for OSC, so I've got time to become fluent in one or the other. Does PLC have any affect on whether or not I can get into OSC? If I'm not fluent now, will I be able to upgrade my profile later?

Thanks for your time and service to the United States of America.

You can have surgery to remove the excess skin after you checked in to your parent unit. However, you will need to have that done on your own time. It can't interfere with your reserve drill weekends.

As for OCS, it wont matter what languages you speak. To earn a commission you have to be in excellent physical shape, excellent academic qualities, demonstrate excellent leadership traits, and complete OCS.
