Among my interests are being a Helicopter Pilot and Intel Officer. Yes I know both hold their challenges.
My thoughts are that I may need to get some excitement out of my system while I'm still young. Thinking about trying pilot training and then moving into Intel later if I'd like to continue my military career following my time as a pilot. I'm thinking about longevity, in terms of where I'll end up age 35+, etc. Intel would be a better line of work after my military career.
I'm just looking for secondary planning. Don't want to win a hard victory just to be disappointed by going through some rough training to find the long run a dead end...
I would just try to stick to one MOS initially, do something you want. I'm not sure what its like on the officer side, but I'm sure it would be hard after all that flight training, to lat move to a totally different MOS.
it is very hard for an Officeer to Lat move to anything other than their initial MOS, think about it,we are going to pay for over $160,000 in training just to have you go to another job and we have to pay again?

+1
Especially if you become an aviator where MILLIONS are spent!
Geez, glad we have a Air Wing Mod who just might be able to answer this one.
Every Squadron has a S-2 (Intel Office) and S-3 (Operations) this requires Officers to be Intel types for the unit. So yes, you can be both, However your picked for the colateral dutys by the CO or XO.
