I've herd everything from 30 days to 3 months, could someone please tell me how long infantry school really is?

PS: I ship to bootcamp nov. 2nd at Paris Island and am trying to prepare myself as much as possible, any advice? I've been running every day and am in the process of memorizing my general orders, I know all the ranks, and have been practicing talking in 3rd person. Anything ealse you guys can think of to help me out?

Thanks.

Yo George...why are you so concerned about infantry school? For some it lasts a lifetime.

Paris Island
Interestingly enough, the official center of Paris is on an island (Île de la Cité), in the Seine river. Wink

I'm not really concerned, it's mainly my parents who are wandering when I'll be done with all my training.

Being thorough is totally required in Boot Camp which lasts three months and at School of Infantry which also lasts about three months. You won't start anything directly except boot camp so plan on being around all initial training for an extra week or two until you class up with each group.

Suggestion on what to do? No brainer. Go out and make life long memories BEFORE you get to PI as you only have one shot at this last bit of freedom before your adulthood starts. Make the most of this time now because you'll wish you had later.

Good luck and God be with you. Check back in after you graduate so we can welcome you aboard right.

Truth be told, you will never be done with training. I wish all the luck.

You'll spend three months in boot camp, go home for ten days and then spend roughly another two months in infantry school and then you'll check directly into your battalion (unit). Depending on where your unit is in the rotation cycle and where your parents live, you'll see them once again sometime within your first year in the fleet.

After that it's generally one-two times per year with one of them being Thanksgiving or Christmas if you've saved your leave time and your command grants your request.

You're enlisting in the Marine Corps Son. Leaving home is all part of the process.
