Hello,

I was seperated from MCRD San Diego for a foot problem. I have a re-entry code of RE-3F, from everything I have read it states that I can re-enlist but will need a waiver. I have seen a foot doctor, he is ready to sign a waiver. How long do I need to wait before re-enlisting. This was a problem undetected during all my phyiscals, until 5 weeks into recruit training. I feel like I have let my family, communtiy, contry and my platoon down. Can I still live my dream of becoming a Marine?

Thank you all.

This question should be in the Wannabe Forum. Is the foot problem Fixed? Are there any other issues that need to be address? Make sure you have all Document in relation to you foot ready to go. Also make sure you Doctor writes you a note Stating in his professional Opinion you are fully heal and FIT FOR MILITARY SERVICE.

If you have a physical problem that prevents you from serving, I don't see how anyone can fell you let anyone down. At least you tried. That is more than can be said of many.

Good luck.

A physical condition does not equal failure and you were in Boot Camp when you found out. To me that is not failure. It just means you have to find something else that you can be good at.

I have a degree in criminal justice, worked for a police department as a community service officer (part time), scored in the 90s and 100s on my Police Oral Boards\BPADS, I am prior service, and I still can not be a police officer for one simple fact - I am mildly red\green color blind.

Instead of giving up and feeling sorry for myself, I found another profession, in the computer industry, as a Computer Security Engineer. So you do the same - Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome! Those words are used in the Marine Corps all of the time. If you give up in either way, you would have never made a good Marine. So suck it up and decide what path you will take if you can not become an US Marine - a loser or a winner. I hope you chose the latter because that is what most Marines are and continue to be.

On a side note, I still go out from time to time as a Police Ride Along and I make sure he works and has lots of reports to fill out... Wink

A second pair of good eyes is better than 1 so I tend to catch things he does not catch.

If your condition is even waivable, you can be waiting anywhere from a few weeks to months on end.

Your first step is to see the recruiter and ask if your -3F is even waivable.
