Does anyone have any idea on which base request is easier to obtain; stateside or overseas?

Why does it matter which is easier? Just request that which you want...maybe you get it, maybe you don't (it's all a matter of timing, which you really have no control over).

depends on your job too. if you are in combat arms you will go overseas at some point.

if your in any other MOS, the chances are still pretty good as well.

i was in comm and requested to go to Okinawa. I got it and was happy with it.

however, a few other Marines I was in comm school with requested the same but ended up in North Carolina. go figure.

we had filled out a "dream sheet" while in MOS training. we were supposed to list the duty stations where we "dreamed" of being stationed at.

depends on MOS, needs of the Corps, needs at a duty station, etc. if these just so happen to match what you want, you'll get it.
