What kind of weapons are issued to enlisted engineers? M-16s, M-4s, M-14s, maybe even shotguns?

Our engineer attachments always carried M4's...you certainly won't carry any big guns like a 240....and i've never seen a SAW carried by a pouge

Hate to break it to you crunchy, but the T/O weapons for a pogue engineer squad are:

7 M-16A4/M-4, 1 w/203
1 SMAW
1 M249
1 M240G
1 Mossberg 500

Now the engineers are being issued different weapons according to what the needs of the current mission are which might be why all you've ever seen them carry is M-4's.

You called the 240 a "big gun" Roll Eyes

well gunny...i don't know what the T/O weapon for an engineer squad is but I know in fallajah and ramadi, our engineer attachments never carried ANY of those besides the M4..much less a Mossberg...

and a 240 is a big gun to me, i'm not a pogue and i'm not a 31

I rarely ever saw engineers, but when we did they all had M-4's. And that comment about pogues and SAW's?

Explain to me why some f'tard Supply Marine had a complete Para-SAW when my entire infantry battalion had the old school SAW? I talked to him and he said several people per platoon had the SAW. He'd yet to leave the FOB and had been there 4-5 months.

F'ing equipment needs to get spread around to the units that need it FAR better. There is NO reason for some f'tard sitting inside the wire to have better equipment than those of us sitting 500m from Hajji City in a goddamn Platoon run TCP.

I've said those exact words before at least a hundred times as a SAW gunner.

Most of you younger Marines experience dealing with engineers has been in Iraq I imagine. Like I said, the weapons they are using there are more tailored to to the current mission. If you ever go on a MEU each squad (minus 4th squad, heavy junk operators/mech, utilities bubbas etc.)in the BLT engineer plt. will carry the firepower I've listed above.

I know what you're saying about gear being issed where it's needed most though. When I was with 3/8 in Haiti, one of the armorers had an A-4 decked out w/ bipods, acog, etc. I don't think I ever saw that guy leave the firm base once during the whole deployment.

I highly recommend getting onto a MEU. Great training, and the libo wasn't too shabby either. Every Marine should should do at least one IMO.

Ahh the old 1371/0351 rivalry....I used to play it...now I've honestly got better things to do w/time. Besides there's enough rivaly to deal with in my own community.
