What happens after infantry school and you go to your fleet unit? Is the training just as intense as SOI and are the schedules the same (times and days)

I just finished my first work up and I deploy Aug 2nd. Prepare to continue being treated like a piece of **** until you deploy. I'm a squared away Marine, I'm in good shape and I'm smart... life still sucked for me. If your good to go, life will be easier, if your a turd your life will suck completely and it will probably not end until you get out. My workup was still intense. I was in the field all the time, even on weekends. Just learn as much as you can and retain knowledge and you will prove to your seniors that you can be trusted and that your not going to be a liability in country. I had a lot of good times in the fleet, and a hell of a lot of ****ty times. To say the least I am relieved to deploy so I will stop being treated like a piece of **** and will finally be part of the team that I thought the Corps was all about. Anyway, keep your head up, work hard/play hard and don't be a turd.
There are a lot of Infantry threads which deals specifically with what you're asking so do a search and then come back with more questions if you still have any.
In a nutshell, you'll join a unit during a normal five month post deployment rest period known as a standdown. You'll then train hard in "workup" for six months getting ready to deploy somewhere and then you'll go and do wherever it is you were trained to do for seven months. Then you'll come back, five months standdown, six months workup and then you deploy for seven months again. It's a never ending cycle which has been in effect since the 1950's.
Life changes drastically once you make your first deployment so listen to what Krentz wrote as he pretty much nails it like it's always been.
Again, read the existing threads as they pretty much address life in general as a Grunt. I personally like Mudrollin's as the input pretty much tells it like it is past, present and future.
Best of luck and stay safe out there once you make it.
