I enlisted in the army national guard last fall so i could get into the SMP program with the Army ROTC program at the university of wyoming. almost enlisted in the marines right after highschool and I check out the PLC program but i chose the army because of the greater benifits. however I am not at all impressed with the army they have very little disipline or resptect for fellow soldiers and a lot of the soldiers cant's even pass the PT test 6 months out of basic training. is there any way i could transfer into the marine corps?
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse."
It depends on your company. I am Army National Guard, prior Marine Corps, and i've toyed with the idea of going back active Marine Corps, and spoke to a recruiter a little while ago. it is possible, but hard. It's an inter-service transfer. It depends on the companies optempo, how many people are in your company, so on and so forth. My company is over 125% strength, so it wouldn't be much of a loss. Talk to a Marine recruiter. Keep in mind, you signed the papers for 3 or 6 years, and your company may hold you to it. But again, i'm not a recruiter. i'm only giving you what limited info i know from what i was told.
