i have been in the dep since june 31st. When i went to meps they gave me the ship date of sept 22nd. Its even written on my contract which i have a copy of. A couple weeks ago at our weekly pt, the gunnysgt called me in and said something went wrong at meps and the computer doesnt have me leaving till nov 3rd.
So from any experience would anyone have any advice on what i can do? they already told me theyll have me out as soon as possible and i believe them. but who knows if it will happen. I just want to leave asap.
so is there something i can bring up like breach of contract so they can do what they have to do to get me out on the next bus. And i do realize that im posting this a little late and it prolly would have been better to look into before my contract date. but i just thought of it today.
so any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated
Thebest you can do is go with it. Look at it as more time to prepare. Also let the Gunny know you would like to be put on the standby list. Pretty much if another guy is scheduled to ship and can't for some reason, you can go in his place. If that happens though be prepared to leave on a moments notice.

You'll be fine! Sometimes things don't go as planned. As a Navy SEAL once said, "Never fall in love your 'plan.'" He couldn't have said it better.

Well, even if you had that option, I would NOT do it. That's something that can potentially bite you in the behind later on.
ABVGunns already gave you the best advice. I know you're anxious, but really all you can be is patient.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." Mr Wallace...You Capitilize your name and you WILL Capitlize SEMPER-FI...This is OUR Motto...Realize this young man...."Any down time, is good time"...you will go where ordered when ordered based on the needs of the Marine Corps...it is a title not given but "EARNED"...SEMPER-FI young man and good luck!!!
WilliamWallace331: I too ship 20081103...my recruiter had made promises when I signed my open contract prior to going to MEPS that I would be shipping to Boot Camp in October, but my official date turned out to be Novemeber 3rd. I am also very excited to get the ball rolling...from my brief experience I have come to realize that the Marine Corps. is far greater than any one of us, so we just need to "go with the flow" and do what we're told. Good luck, and maybe we'll see each other at Boot Camp. Are you going to Parris Island or San Diego?
Yeah sounds similar. my original promise was july but then that didnt happen and i was mad at first then began to appreciate the extra time i have to physically and mental better myself. Yes im going to Parris Island. So if they cant get me out before then if your going there as well im sure well see eachother there. Stay Motivated Poolle
They might have just reassigned your dates due to over crowding at the time you all were supposed to report. Understand that there are only so many slots in the training cycle and only so many beds in the barracks so if they over book ship dates then someone always gets bumped. As you both read above, "hurry up and wait" and Murphy's Law always applys: "Whatever can go wrong - will go wrong - count on it!"
