I read somewhere that you can get a $3,000 bonus for shipping to Boot Camp before you original date. If I could remember where I saw that I would check it again. But I checked this site, ask.com and google.com. I can't find anything about it. I did see here that there could be Shipping Bonus's. But it said something about "Leaving during certain times of the year." I was just wondering if any one has received this bonus, or told about it. I asked my Recruiter to find me an earlier ship date. Simply because I am ready to go. I just need to make sure, because I could be going to MEPS any day now. I want to get it in a contract. Thanks in advance.

If you asked your recruiter about getting you an earlier ship date......why not ask him the bonus question also...

I realize the internet is a good source of information....hell I use it myself through out the day for just that reason....but there times when you kids need to push away from the computer....pick up a phone...or better yet....go down and see him......

my recruiter had told me something along the lines of you can a bonus for shipping out around fall and winter because they can't get a lot of recruits to leave around then. but i'd still check with your recruiter just to make sure.

Really, that suprises me. So can you choose your ship date at MEP's? I would like to go in like october or november. So I shouldnt have a problem getting that ship date since they need more people for the fall and winter?

Highly doubtful. The Liasion at MEPS said, BEAVER! You're going on December 3rd. I said Yes sir, thank you. And then signed my contract. You go when they have an opening. I know right now, from helping my RSS recruit people, they are trying to fill Jan. now. I just asked for a spot if someone dropped out.

The RS (HQ) is supposed to ship so many recruits to bootcamp a month. They have to ship a certain number of females, reservists, and Tier I's. If they fall short of this goal then they use the shipping bonus to get certain poolees to ship early. This isn't a bribe it's more like a "look I know you had family plans but because you're doing this for us this is what we'll do for you" type of thing. Just because you ask your recruiter to move up your ship date doesn't mean you'll get a bonus.

I got that information passed on to me today. I am not eligible for a bonus. But like I said, many times before, If I was joining for the money I would join the Army.

~PB,

There is such thing as "early ship out" bonus, I believe EF code. It is for those who enlist and ship out prior to the year end, which is September 30, 2007. Now, whether you can get it or not, depends on your region's availability since each gets a certain number of them assigned amongst each. Even if there is zero for your particular district where you are enlisting, your recruiter may request it if he really needs to fill in the quotta and he wants to get you or someone else in and thus will use that EF bonus as an attraction.

Last time i talked to them they told me that there are no bonuses and that you have to pick your job first and then they make a call and find out if there's any bonus for that MOS. Plus i was gonna get 3g's for shipping to go to BCT in Dec. One season is worth 2g's and the other is worth 3.

Well my original ship date was Dec. 3. And they never told me about a bonus. But I have requested to leave A.S.A.P. So I could get a call any day to go. But I was just wondering, if there was one, why it hadn't been mentioned to me.

Nothing was mentioned to me either. Then I asked b/c I have been doing my home work. They showed it to me then. Until you ask, they forget to advertise it. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not like their trying to pocket the money. They can't. The funds are given specifically for that and if they are not used, the government will take it back. But they will rather keep it in case if they will need it in the future to enhance the interest of someone who is not all that willing to join and they need to fill their quota. I say you should ask and tell them that the other recruiter did show you the print out where it stated that there were about 30-40 ER's, that's the code for Early Ship enlistment. It is $3G's for those enlisting up until September 30th, 2007. Good luck!
