Hello, im headed down to MEPS to choose a job in a few days, and I think I want to go into the artillery field. However, I have a few questions.

1. In the 0811 field, what are the current deployments like? I've heard that some MOS's are deploying as MP or rifle divisions.

2. If I was put in the 0844 field, how much time would I spend in the field as opposed to on base or behind the wire?

3. When working as an 0861, are you in the field by yourself, or with a team of other 0861s or with a company of 0311s maybe?

4. If anyone has any personal stories about artillery, I'd like to hear them. I'm really leaning towards the 0861 or 0811 options.

Thank you.

You might what to go to the Marine Artillery Forum to look for your Answers. In my opinion that forum has better answers for Artillery Wannabes than this Forum. And if you are nice and ask permission they May even let you post over there.

Cant really talk about 0811, But if you 0861 you have the chance to get to an ANGLICO unit and be one of the 3% of Marines with Jumps wings. Hope this Helps. If you have any questions try using the Search Function both hear and the Artillery Forum. Hope this is use full.
