My Recruiter was talking to me about a job where I make sure Marines are paid on time, I manage unit assets (eg if unit XYZ needs X amount of money for new missles id check if uncle sam had the cash for us) pretty much im a bean counter for the unit, i guess, kinda like an accountant, but i need help finding the job codes and doing research on them because i'd like to figure out more specifics about my job. Plus I have another question, say if i had job code 54 and job code 546789- Guy With Guns is what i wanted how would i be assigned said job code and when?

also alot of the questions you may have most likly have been answered please use the search function and read the following links carfully,

"how would i be assigned said job code and when?"

If you look at the MOS list I gave you you will notice that every MOS has a four digit number. the first two number tell what field you are in such as 01 for Admin, 02 for intel or 03 for Infantry. the the second two numbers tell the specific job. look at admin 0121-Personnel Clerk is a accountant with personal documents, while 0161-Postal Clerk is ancountant for anything dealing with the Mail.

If you go active duty YOU(it is the only time you can tell the Marine Corps what you want and get it so use it) pick you MOS field and the Marine Corps pick the specific job.

If you go reserve you can pick both the Field and Job but are limited to only jobs that are at the local reserve centers.

read the following link and be warned.

ahhh I dont want to fix or maintain aircraft, Sir. Id rather fly 'em. What are some good, fun jobs? I wanted Combat Engineer but i dont qualify for it (low Technical score) I chose field 34, i think, i'll make sure with my Recruiter. Could I re-take the ASVAB at this point and see if i qualify for Combat Engineer again? (i have a ship date for Boot Camp August 18th)

IF you are in the DEP. No read the following thread if you want to know why. Retaking the ASVAB But you might be able to renegotionate you contract while you are in the DEP.

You ship Date is a couple months away so you might be able to change you MOS. In reguards to the Best(GOOD, FUN what ever adjective you use) JOB type that in find box at the top of the thread. But Click Here and read the first post by SCMerle. Somethings to remember every MOS has its good point and bad points. I am a rigger, advantages, I am in the paraloft and rarly get buged, I jump out of air planes and get paid extra money to do it. bad things once I put on the parachute and have it inspected I have to sit there and wait which mean I sometimes have to wait hours and be totally board and uncomfrotable until I jump, and I may not jump at all because of the weather. Also I have to shake the chutes out once we are done and acount for them so I can't go home right after a jump while everyone else can.

We can only give you sujestions based off of our experiences. Only you know what is good for you and it is your decistion. We don't know you. WE ARE NOT YOU! If you want to tell us what you like to do are what you think is cool some of the Marines here will give you sujestions. It is up to you to decide what is good for you. good luck

I still don't see how you have a 29 on your ACT and don't qualify to be a Combat Engineer.

Okay I am assuming you are going active and I will put a sujested Job Field next to each interest.

03 Infantry, 08 Artillery, 18 Tank and amphibious vehicles
2. I like to shoot guns. big guns, little guns, etc i dont care they're guns see above
3. Im an adrenaline junky I like to skydive, parasail, bungie jump etc
03, 18, 0451(spcific MOS), I would also check out the 61 aircraft Maintance field only because you can enlist as a crew chief and fly in helicopters and shoot the Machine Guns and also volunteer to jump in the water to rescue people. form my understanding even if you don't get right in you orginal contract and get stuck only fixing it you can ask to train to become a crew chief. TomHansen should have the skinny on that and should correct me if I am wrong.
4. I like to solve mental puzzles, hard mind games, riddles, etc 02 Intelligence

5. I have a strong mind. Im very smart got a 29 on the ACT

Any MOS
6. I have a strong mind for facts, figures, money, business, etc
7. I was an assitant and a file clerk for my father's accounting firm for awhile. So I love managing money and advising people/corporations on accounting etc thats what i want to do, be a Corporate Accountant after i get out of the Corps.

if you like this maybe you got placed in the right MOS, But I am thinking you want to try something different. Am I right?
8. I live to solve problems. (personal, financial, leagal, Mechanical. a little more spcific)
9. I like Fixing anything. Im a fixer. I am assuming you are talking about mechanics right or something else like computers/electronics? can you be a little more specific becasue at least a quarter of the Corps in one way or another fixes something. I fix Parachutes requires a sewing Maching, others fix electronics which requires saudering(spelling) gun, other fix engins which requires a wrench. So do you see where I am going with this?

In general I would look at the 04 field because

0411, and 0431s are admin types

0451s-pack parachuts, and jump out of planes

0481-guide and dircet amphibious landings, they are some of the first Marines on the Beach

and if you are on the grim side of things you could volunteer for 0471 or 0472 and pick up Dead bodies. It sounds bad but you would be the one that give the last dignity to a fallen Marine and Help bring Closier to his family.
