Will they make me eat meat? Just wondering. And I was also wondering...

I want to deploy but I want to do combat. I'm female so this isn't attainable. What else could I do? What are the safest things to do overseas? Just wondering about that to. Trying to learn everything I can.

We have vegetarians, and they cannot force you to eat meat. On the chow line, you take what you want, but you eat what you take. Out in the field, you can pick and eat vegetarian MRE's.

Have you read on the Lioness program or Female Engagment Team? Regardless of MOS, females will be an asset for Marines out in the field whether manning a female check point, convoy operations or humanitarian aid. The possibility of getting harmed will be there.

Can't tell you anything about deployments, but I can tell yo about my experience with being a vegetarian. I went to boot last august as a vegetarian, I'm also a female, and they didn't make you eat meat, but sometimes it's all it really came down to. Idk your reason for being a vegetarian but I didn't really have any good reason, so the first couple days I had a turkey sandwich or two, because it was either that or live off two granola bars a day for 3 days. But as you get more into bootcamp you can ask your sdi to male sure u get vegetarian boxed chow. The bigger challenge is mct. While they provide you with mre's, sometimes you can't always get vege ones, cuz other people in the platoon actually like them and won't trade. And you are almost always hungry in mct and it's easier to snack whenever you have downtime.. So I ended up eating the crackers with the cheese that has bacon bits in it once in a while. Never had to eat a full meal of meat tho, and I survived. Now I'm 100% back to my vegetarian ways!

You will be offered the same foods as any other Marine, it's up to you what you want to eat or not. Rarely will you be able to request certian things to eat, eat what is offered. We are not like Burger King where you can have it your way 24/7. Being a Marine means you will have a active life style, you will need the proteen that meat brings.

As for Boot Camp, don't plan on keeping food in your foot looker as that is a NO-NO, there are no Friges either. If you dont get your fill in the Chow Hall during Boot Camp, well life is a %itch (female dog). Like I a said your in the Marine Corps not the Navy, Air Force, or the Army of One.

Hah, only a year & two months. I was busy with sloths transitions and the beginning of my ridicuously long MOS school, and had a demotivated njp period. All recovered now and motivated again. I'll check in in a bit! & thank you!

Well, if you don't have a "Page 11" or "NJP" in your SRB, you aren't a real Marine. Big Grin Welcome to the club!

So what did you do - get into a fight, punch out your CO? Wink

Mine was for missing movement in the reserves. Long story and at first they wanted to strip my rank until I wrote a two page letter to the CO. After asking to be placed back into inactive reserves, the CO had nothing bad to say and actually invited me back once I fixed the problems that created the circumstances surrounding the page 11.

Haha, it's ok, I don't mind. I wish I had some crazy story! I'm engaged and he was a corporal in my platoon(at mos school). He picked up corporal after being at mos school for a year. Wasn't in my squad or anything. Really silly situation. We both got busted down, 45 days restriction with epd, and half pay.. That CO is gone now and my fiancé is stationed in Hawaii. Getting married the 24th lol. Sh*t happens I guess.. Just gonna keep moving forward

Just remember that Hawaii costs more so don't be shocked when you get there.

October 24th is the day of my Karate tournament.

If you want to send rounds downrange as a female your best options are motor T and MP's as you will get far more opportunities to leave the wire and/or man the guns on mounted patrols. If you do something like admin or legal you might as well forget any chance of that.

The Lioness program embeds female Marines with other units, usually infantry, at locations where women are needed to search female civilians. Most of the time this means high traffic areas such as fixed checkpoints.
