I just got out last June, and since have landed a great job. I have been missing my time in the Marines a lot, these past few weeks I had been dismissing these feelings as nostalgia for all the good times, and tried to remind myself of the bad. But today I am sure its more than remembering the good times. I have a good job, and I make good money, but its not the same. So I have just fired off an email to a PSR, and I will be calling him tomorrow. I hope it has not been to long. I was fed up with the AR program, and I let a bunch of little things cloud my vision. But my short time away has granted me some clarity, I really did, and do love being a Marine. I am going to see if I can go back.

Sorry for writing a novel, I just wanted to see what other people thought of this, and if I'm trying to push a boulder up a hill. Any impute, support, or helpful information would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

I think the best friends and the best times that most Marines have are in their first four years. I had a lot of fun in my almost 4 years, and I don't think it can be duplicated if I stay for another four years.

Besides who wants to be the 30 something year old SNCO hanging out in a bar in Jacksonville by themselves thinking "this place was the zhit when I was a Lance Corporal"?

I'll be checking into College Company, 2nd Beer Battalion, 2nd Civ Div this Jan Cool

Most everyone that posts here is to share the camaraderie that we experienced in the Corps. I work in an office where I am the only veteran of any service, when I talk to them about boot, or any other experiences I had they just glaze over, they have no clue.

Currently serving with 3rd Cubical Company, 3rd Office Regiment, 3rd Civ Div

Plenty Marines at work (LEO's) concur that there is no compariosn in regards to comraderie in the USMC. Former Marines tell reservist, once they are out, they will miss it and talk about going back in.

6 months is about the cutoff, so you should be OK. If you try an active component enlistment you may loose time in grade. If you try to go back to AR you may run into a problem. The AR structure (as you know) is very limited, and they have most likely already replaced you. You could also do the SMCR thing (sin, I know), but that would let you keep your feet in the door until the best possible contract comes along.

Be sure to check with the COW (Commanding Officer Wife) before making any drastic moves.

Big Grin

Note: Never use the acronym in the presence of the COW.

Better to use the term "House CO." I made the mistake of using COW once...once. I also answered that time honored question "Does this make me look fat?" with "Honey, its not the dress that makes you look fat." That was one of those times when I wish I could just suck the words right back into my mouth before they hit her ears!

When you know something is right for you, then you have to go back to it. I wish I would have realized it soon enough after I originally got out. I would do anything to get back to my Marines. I did try on 2 occassions but the MOS I was in (1811) was filled and had changed MOS types too (1812). Damn if I don't reflect on all the positive times I had while on activity duty.

Just as GSE said:

I do have some Veterans I work with, but in a technology business, they don't seem to be all that reminiscent. There are times I just can't stand the crap. Anyway, as stated before, I don't want to go on to much. If I haven't already.

Everyone misses the bros and good times the rest of our lives so it's not just a question of nostalgia because it's truly when we turned from boys to men. I don't want to go back and have always been a Professional Frickin' Civilian.

Congrats on picking up SNCO Devil, well done.
