Traditional missions:
Navy seizes control of the ocean area and adjacent skies, Marines land and seize inital control of land area and skies, Army and Air Force land, then assume control of land and skies. Navy, Marine and Coast Guard units then conduct offensive and supporting coastal, ground and air operations in full cooperation with Army and Air Force units as part of one overall concentrated team effort. Make no mistake, no one owns anything until the Navy, Army and Air Force show up because they're main force organizations which means they have the manpower, budget and supplies to fight sustained long term military campaigns and they're the best at what they do. We Marines are expeditionary which means we're limited in being able to sustain ourselves in prolonged fights without outside support. We're the best at what we do. So you see, we're not in competition over who is better because we all have our own seperate missions and by working together we're the most formidable Military in the world. War is all about survival people, not pride. Heaven have mercy on your soul if you ever leave a fellow American Servicemember in war without supporting them because the Warriors in your own unit won't! Count on it because Americans never leave Americans. Thats what defines our character as Warriors. The Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen and why they enlist: Marines: Highly motivated individuals seeking great personal challenge through group participation. People enlist looking for that special magic they know is within them and they're looking for someone to help them bring it out. Heavy warrior culture based on individual's contribution to overall group where failure is never considered an option. Army: Great medium motivated Service with an incredible fighting history based on dedicated service well over two centuries. Medium warrior culture based on individual development. Extremely competent, very professional and always there when needed. Individuals enlist for benefits and a sense of service. Navy: Greatest technicians because their training is the most comprehensive due to the fact they can't have a factory rep fly to the middle of the ocean to make repairs. Like the Army, medium warrior culture based on technical skills and their people enlist for benefits and a sense of service. Air Force: Great service even though they're only 50+ years old and still trying to define themselves as warriors. Second to none in owning the skies and extremely competent at what they do. Loose warrior culture based on individual development in a corporate setting and they enlist mostly for college benefits and technical schools. Coast Guard: Outstanding small highly motivated service filled with world class technicians for the same reasons as the Navy. Medium warrior culture based on saving rather than destroying whenever possible. Individuals enlist for sense of service, care of the environment and personal benefits. |

Thanks BMG. Heres hoping they'll make a little bit more of an more informed decision in the right service they're truly suited for instead of a four year mistake in the wrong one they won't personally grow or develop in.

"Gory, Gory, what a hellva way to DIE!" |
This is all speculation. What exactly do you base any of this off of? Have you interviewed every Soldier, Marine, Sailor & Airmen to uncover their reasoning & motive's for enlisting into their respective service? I sure as f.uk didn't enlist for (or recieve) benefits and bonuses. I DID enlist to serve & fight for my country. Last time I checked, everyone in the military receives College money in the form of the GI Bill. And sometime's, just sometimes, my motivation and warrior-sprit go from medium to heavy. Much like a womans flow, but then I realize the USMC has a monoploy on kicking *** & espirt de corps, and my warrior-sprit gets dangerously low. |

Draw down the attitude and I don't like the way you tossed the "flow" into your comments. If it not relavent, leave a womans FLOW out of the conversation. It is really uncalled for. Thanks! Sgt Shaw Out!! |

Never come to our barracks and think you're going to disrespect a Marine. Sgt. Shaw earned her spot in NCO Country while you're just a guest. She called you on your disrespect and you're not blowing her off and you know we've got her back. Time for a warrior to warrior apology Son, she's earned it.

"A Marine on duty has no friends." |
like the whole concept of buying and selling things.......
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS MAY VARY. if that shoe doesn't fit, then don't wear it. You didn't enlist for benefits in the Army...wow. G2G, you are probably one of the few. Feel better? I'm not afraid to say I sure as hell enlisted in the Army Reserve of all places after the Corps........for one thing...benefits. I got the benefits (2 yrs free tuition as a reserve member) and they kept me for an extra year on stop loss....and I did 2 overseas deployments. The Army traditionally recruits with bennies, the Corps does not...... Once again, INDVIDUAL MAY RESULTS VARY. |

Finally an army hack that speaks the truth. Now, since you are a dogface and could not possibly have anything of value to add to a Marine Corps wannabe forum, go fall in a foxhole. |

So, where in this thread have I disrespected SGT. Shaw? It's not like I've made blanket or board, general statements about her or her service. Maybe I'm just retarded, after all, the Army takes people w/ medium to low intelligence. And my confusion is running medium to high. |

The Army tradtionally recruits people w/ benefits? So was General Washington handing out enlistment bonuses? Did President Lincoln urge Union Soldiers to take advantage of the GI bill and Army college fund? Basically, out of the millions of Soldiers who've served past and present, all were enticed into going "Army" because of "Bennies"? And since you joined the Army for "Bennies" while I did not, does that mean my service was morally right and more patriotic? |

Ironic. A Marine combat infantryman fighting with a soldier, who is also a combat infantryman, to defend a pogue WM. Anyone see anything wrong with that?

Yeah, I see something wrong with that! a WM (Woman Marine) is a Marine. Marine's stick up for, back up, and support each other. Thats what makes us a Band of Brothers,.. & Sisters. The only "Pogue" in this thread is YOU, clown! Pull your head out and breath some fresh air. |
