Marines, please allow me to translate this into proper english, instead of incomplete run on sentences.

I am a wannabe. I have wanted to be a Marine ever since 9th grade. My uncle is a 1STSGT in the Marines, and I would like to follow in his footsteps, but unfortunately he is never around to talk. So I am wondering what is life like if you are a young single, fresh out of high school Marine?

Thank You

I agree. Great grammar, topic starter. Not my place to say though.

Deshon,

Don't mind these people, life as a single Marine is just like the TV show JAG. Great adventure and hot chicks are always around.

But on a serious note, make your own life. You seem to be stating a purpose and hiding behind you Uncle's rank. Pull that crap in the fleet and your fellow Marines will shun you.

Nobody gives a rats arce what rank your uncle has achieved. You'll be judged on your own merits.

And lighten up Francis.

Poolee...While we appreciate the grammar, don't come in here and bag on another wannabe.

Arrgggggggggggggggggg! Damnit! Mad It is so freaking hard for me not to pull your plug right this very minute you (INSERT BAD WORD HERE)! Mad

That happens to be a Active Duty Chief Warrant Officer of Marines you are addressing there puke. Conduct yourself.

Oh and for the record, I don't give a flying flip what your Uncle is. Invite him here, and I can gar-on-damn-t you he will be the first to snatch your young azz up.

Now since I know you are not going to be able to do it. I'm gonna give you about 30 seconds to get your "I'm sorry's" done or I'm gonna burn you so bad you will wish you were dead. Mad

life as a single Marine is what you make of it.

you will live in a barracks in a single room either by yourself or with another Marine.

This of course is after you complete basic training where you are in an open squad bay with 100 other recruits all sharing the same 12 toilets and the same 12 shower heads.

you have no rent to worry about, and as long as you eat at the chow hall you don't have to buy food.

this leaves 2 options for you to spend your paycheck.

you can burn through it in a couple days buying useless junk you don't need, or you can live modestly within your means.

you will work hard, but you will play hard also.

living in close quarters with Marines you work with will help develop a sense of camaraderie.

what do you specifically want to know?

Life as a single Marine was great...if you had a car...I did not and it kinda sucked until I went places where you didn't need a car....but thats a totally different story.....if you don't have a car, find a Marine who does and pay some gas money and go do stuff.....

Camp Pendleton, where I was for two years had a bus go thru our section of the base and went all over...it was based out in town...The bus system was called NCTD-"North County Transporation District". The Marines called it...NCTD-"No Car To Drive" aka "Loser Cruiser".

Get a car.....or know someone with one..it will help.

If you take your life at once aside

Then remove yourself from the cast

You will find the ship of fools steams on- regardless......

Leaving you free to sail on past.
