I have a point, just bare with me.

As some of you know, I enlisted as a reservist. Took me 5 years to augment to active duty. Spent most of those 5 years on active duty. The reserves get promoted alot slower than AD, and rightfully so. So, after being a LCpl for close to 3 years, I had been a LCpl longer than most of the Cpl's had been in the Corps. I was in a platoon with a Cpl who had been in the Corps a heartbeat and I didn't like him telling me what to do. Long story short, I mouthed off one day and he snatched me the **** up I got my arse handed to me.

The point? KNOW WHEN TO SHUT YOUR FRIGGIN' SUCK! Just because you get your little feelings hurt doesn't mean you won't pay for runnin' your soup cooler.

Nope, not anymore Dino, that stuff is considered hazing which is a career ender. The MC is letting these ****bags run wild and taking all the training tools like that away from the small unit leaders, so when kids like him go to Iraq they get killed because they weren't trained because of BS "hazing" policies.

For instance, when I first got to the Fleet if you dropped your rifle it was "Push, you dumb@ss Boot" and you pushed until they told you to stop. After awhile you were extra careful not to drop your rifle. That is considered hazing now, and is a court martial offense.

Thats insane!!! Jeez, now I understand the tale of why a corporal was busted to lance criminal for making a kid push. So how the heck is a sul supposed to correct the small things in the rear so the kid doesn't get themselves killed in the field???

I don't know....But I do know that the way I trained all of my boots on my last pump brought every single one of them home. I almost feel kinda betrayed by higher on this one.

Its like Okay, so you want me to be an NCO, train and hold these kids up to the high standards of the Marine Corps, the standards that set us apart from becoming the Army, but then you'll bust me down and may even court martial me because I was mean and unsensitive to my PFCs? Whats more important? Bringing home all of your Marines or not hurting their feelings?

The greatest Marine who ever lived bounded me off a wall locker for simply asking him "why" when I first drove up to "his platoon." Ha ha ha, never made that mistake again even though I wanted to fire him up for about a month or so. He definitely got my attention and I still use his simple "take care of your people at all costs" leadership style to this day.

I'll be paying my respects to him at the CL Beirut Memorial around the 20th of this month and would like to buy you a welcome home beer if you're down for it. Your style reminds me a lot of us back in the day.

By the way, I'm a Hollywood who never went further east than Pendelton on active duty as I spent most of my time in Asia. Where the heck is the south gate where the Memorial is supposed to be???
