chafe-boy,
I will add one fact about the pullup event in the Marine Corps PFT. Like 29P said, palms in or out, it does not matter, as long as they are facing the same way during the pullup. You are allowed to change-over from one way to the other during your pullup test as long as you do not come completely off the bar during the change-over.

If normal fitness is causing a knee injury to get worse then you have to stop, see a doctor and do what he prescribes. The hit may have damaged your medial meniscus, posterior cruciate ligament and/or tibial collateral ligament.

I suggest that, as long as you plan to play rugby and football, you get to know every tendon, ligament and meniscus in your knee. Know what the treatment is for the various severities of damage to these key pieces of this joint. Find a good sports doctor.

Cramps - hydration, stretching and eat a banana with every meal. If the cramps persist, see a doctor.

Pain in the bottom of your feet - ask your coach and/or trainer.

Eating bananas won't stop cramps - it's an old wive's tale. Besides, bananas are low in potassium compared to potatoes. Just the facts.

I don't know about eating bannannas, but when I cramped up in track my coach made me drink pickle juice. I'm not sure about its chemical properties but it worked for me within five minutes. As for having a stitch in your ribs, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly might help.

I might not have a question but what I said was a suggestion completely related to this thread. I don't appreciate your attitude towards me either. If you have a problem with me that's just fine, but at least have a good reason aside from the fact that I'm a 'Wannabe'.

What is a modified situp? I was always told you sat up until your forearms touched your legs.

Oh, and avoid anything with caffeine and citric acid like the plague, including all soda and tea. They reduce the absorption of Iron, which causes a kind of anemia.
In a worst case scenario, it can give you horrible stomach ulcers, which happened to me.
Trust me, just stay away from soda and caffeine. Oh, and Gatorade, Vitamin water, and powerade all have citric acid, you should avoid them all. Water is the best thing you can have.

Your question is unclear. Upon what exactly are you trying to improve?

Do you need to lose weight?
Do you need to get in better shape?
Do you need to do both?

Do you eat fast food and junk for every meal? 3 meals a day?

If you do indeed work out everyday, what exactly is your daily workout routine?

How fast do you run the 3 miles? How many dead-hang pull-ups can you do? How many crunches can you do in 2 minutes?

How old are you?
What is your height?
What is your weight?

You answer my questions... I'll answer yours.

Do you need to lose weight? No
Do you need to get in better shape? Yes

Do you eat fast food and junk for every meal? 3 meals a day? Since I've been working out I eat alot. I eat 2-3 good heathy meals a day then I screw it up and eat like 9 dounuts (what I did last night).

If you do indeed work out everyday, what exactly is your daily workout routine? First thing out of bed I do a warm up, strech, then I go to the track and run 3 miles. Then I do 5 sets of push ups, crunches, and pull ups.

How fast do you run the 3 miles? No idea, from the time I leave my house to I come back it usually is about 30 mins.
How many dead-hang pull-ups can you do? None, I have to have my elbows bent a little or else I can't go up at all. I can do two like that.
How many crunches can you do in 2 minutes? I do 50 in about a minute. I went to a 100 a few times but I think It was over two mins.

How old are you? 18
What is your height? 6 foot
What is your weight? 160 pounds.

I sworn in a couple weeks ago, I've been really out of shape just started to work out the day after I swore in.

Ok. Dropping the junk food insn't going to help you.

2 weeks is nothing. 30 minutes a day, not including commute time, is the bare-minimum-just-starting-to-workout period. Increase to 45 minutes working out per day. After 2 months, or sooner if you feel up to it, increase to one hour. That's one hour of working out, stretching and commuting not included.

You're going to have to workout harder and longer.

You run at a track? Like at a high school that goes around a football field? If so, it's a quarter-mile track. 12 laps is 3 miles. Get a watch and start timing yourself.

If you're running in an indoor track, you need to know how many laps make a mile.

What is a set? 2, 5, 10, 20, max? If max, what is max?

You're just starting out. Note how many reps you do for each set. Note your run times.

Workout hard and regular - no less than 45 minutes a day. You'll see improvement over time. Give yourself a few months.

Your fighting weight should be about 175.
