Don't worry about 1st Class swim qualifications. Boot Camp doesn't go up that far.

If you swim "on the regular", you have nothing to worry about. You will be classed on all of the techniques you need to succeed.

Good thread Deep. Maybe some of these wannabe's will read this instead of thinking of dumb questions to ask.
On another note, I know I'm already a Marine but I wanted to ask this here because I think it might help some of the wannabe's. I'm a Reservist and I will run and do ab workouts one day and then more strength oriented weights another day, but being a college student, the college student diet of Ramen noodles and cereal isn't working for me, you got any suggestions for me as far as a better diet? Thanks and Semper Fi.

Uhh, what the ****, the ****ing colege chowhall?! HOw are you affording school man? I didn't pay for a goddamn cent of that **** BEFORE I joined the Corps, now you're broke after (or durrring I don't know) joining? WHat school are you at too man?

All you really need to keep and prepare healthy foods is a microwave oven, a blender, and a small fridge. You can even use disposable dishes and containers for the most part. Check out men'shealth.com for recipies, etc.

chafe-boy,
I will add one fact about the pullup event in the Marine Corps PFT. Like 29P said, palms in or out, it does not matter, as long as they are facing the same way during the pullup. You are allowed to change-over from one way to the other during your pullup test as long as you do not come completely off the bar during the change-over.

If normal fitness is causing a knee injury to get worse then you have to stop, see a doctor and do what he prescribes. The hit may have damaged your medial meniscus, posterior cruciate ligament and/or tibial collateral ligament.

I suggest that, as long as you plan to play rugby and football, you get to know every tendon, ligament and meniscus in your knee. Know what the treatment is for the various severities of damage to these key pieces of this joint. Find a good sports doctor.

Cramps - hydration, stretching and eat a banana with every meal. If the cramps persist, see a doctor.

Pain in the bottom of your feet - ask your coach and/or trainer.

Eating bananas won't stop cramps - it's an old wive's tale. Besides, bananas are low in potassium compared to potatoes. Just the facts.

For starters, you aren't a Marine and haven't earned USMC on your screen name. I suggest you remove it, read the rules, and follow the guidelines.

Eating bananas solved my leg cramps - hamstring and calf - on several occassions over the last 30 years. Bananas worked for me.

Old wives' tale or not, there's no reason to dissuade the manatees from a daily intake of fruit or to persuade the manatees to increase their daily intake of french fries.

Bananas have a high amount of potassium. Muscle cramps can sometimes be caused by a deficient amount of this chemical. However it does nothing for a stitch in your side.

Manatees!!! Bwahahaha! Personally, I don't eat much fruit for the simple fact that it's high in fructose. With all the processing going on today in the food industry it's hard to find anything with consistent nutritional value. One banana may have 3,ooo mg of K while another only 3 mg.

The differences are the normal stuff between a male and female. Run, do flexed-arm hang, and sit ups.
*Here's a tip from a Marine who ran the BCP program - if you have a problem with your weight, don't go in the Corps. Save yourself the pain and embarrassment and go in another branch. The Corps doesn't play when it comes to weight.

That's right, 110 degrees... in the shade.

No sweat... it's a dry heat. Big Grin
