Your asvab tells what you've got the mental aptitude to soak up between your ears. If there's a job open and you've got the apptitude, their gonna send you to school for it. Its first and always about the needs of the Corps. They are not going to take a rocket scientist and make 'em a toilet tech. If you've got the gray matter, the Corps is gonna use every bit of your talent. If all you've got is a vaccum in your brain housing unit, then it won't matter where they put you. Ya won't notice the difference. If a recruiter lies, it'll catch up with 'em and his fishin days are over. Successful recruiters are straight shooters! Tell 'em what you want. If you've got the stuff, their gonna get you where you want to be.

On the otherhand if you don't pass the ASVAB your recruiter will tell you and guess what? No way they can get you to join until you pass that test.
