I want to hear about all sorts of Poolee stories. The things that you've done that you never knew you could do. I'll go ahead and share mine.

Today at eight in the morning I met at the local marine recruiting office, which happened to be the base for recruiting over several counties. My recruiter told me to come out and do some PT with them. Now, I'd done PT with my recruiter and two or three other guys before but this was different.

I got to the office fifteen minutes early and there were already ten kids there. By the time we started there were twenty or so kids and eight marines including the four recruiters.

We just started off with some stretches and then we lined up on a road. "We'll be running the same route for the IST today. The first three people to finish get a T-shirt. Now, you don't have to be the fastest, just dont be the slowest."

I thought to myself "Ah, no problem. Just a mile and a half." We started to run, and then we ran some more and then we kept running. I was surprised to see someone like myself, someone who had really just started training to be in fourth place.

I kept running, and running and running. I didn't know how far we had come already but I need to stop for a great long puke of my breakfast. Soon after I hit the "halfway" mark, where a Marine stood to keep us on the path. "How far are we running anyways?" I asked. The reply was simple "Does it matter? Just keep running." So I did.

Well, I ended up getting sixth place after a pair of track runners passed me, but I was pretty darned impressed. I've never run four miles continuously before, and I thought I did pretty well even though it took me forty minutes.

My recruiter was pleasantly surprised because not even I knew I had it in me. Some of you guys might roll yours eyes and say "Hah. I run five miles everyday." But hey, this is my accomplishment and I thought it would be good to share.

If anyone else has some stories to share I'd like to hear them.

Keep up the good work and maybe someday you'll get to my level. Haha Kidding.

I'm not a Poolee yet but will be in a couple months but I do meet with my recriter and a few Poolees to do some PT. We usually do the same routine stuff like run on the road for 4 miles, pullup drills, etc. but I remember we got together to play flag football one time. It was the Marine Poolees vs. Army Poolees. The army QB was talking smack to us the whole game and it really got to pissing me off. So I ran as fast as I could through that offensive line and got to the QB and knocked him on his *** so hard everyone's mouth was hanging open. After that my recruiter said "Son, you're gonna make a fine Marine!" It hurt my shoulder and still has some minor pain to it.

That's really the only story I have.

Good work. My Senior Drill Instructor said it best: "The only thing that stops the human body is the human mind." WB there is nothing you can't do as long as you try and give it the best you have. You're absolutely right, it's your four miles and YOU DID IT! Outstanding job.

I went to PT for the first time about week ago. It was pretty intense and for the first few minutes i hated it but after awhile it was fun. After about two ours we did a mile and a half indian run which was really tiring but after we were done I felt real good. I actually enjoyed being sore the next day made me feel good.

I really don't have any special story's at all. I enjoy doing pt. The best thing is you get to see where you are at compared to other poolees. I am pretty sure we are doing a IST this Saturday for our meeting I am gunning for a sub 10 minute mile and a half. Usually when we do pt I lead the way or am right near the front but my sprint isn't to good so i might get passed but i think i will go all out and not hang around other poolees

As one of my DI's told me once, If you aren't puking after a run you didnt train hard enough. If you are puking then you can run at least another mile to a mile and a half.

Great job with the run but keep it up.

I have to say PT really is some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Yes it hurt, but it is incredibly fun.

I'm doing my best to keep it up. This Thursday-Friday I'll be at MEPS getting sworn in and having my contract written up. In addition to that, I'm pretty excited because this weekend I'm going to be participating in a Tri-State Poolee competition, once I get signed of course.

Has anyone ever been to one of these functions and/or participated in one?
