General Knowledge:
Awhile back, I filled something out on military.com and chose AF and Army. Nothing came of it, but then recently, it came up again, so I filled it out and selected USMC. Friday, I got a voicemail from a SSgt from the Marine Corps. Today, I got an overnighted Fedex envelope style package with Marine information inside. I even got an unknown phone call (which I didnt answer as I didnt recognize the number). I went online and looked up the number, and it was a USMC Recruiting Station. Let me tell you... I was impressed. So I called the SSgt who contacted me on Friday and spoke with him a bit, alerted him of my situation, and he is set to come out to my home to meet my wife and I on Wednesday at 4 or 4:30. I'm hoping that when he submits all my documents for the medread, it comes back as a go. Thanks for your help that I've received from these forums, and will certainly keep you updated. Is there anything I should specifically be looking for from the recruiter or specific questions that are good to ask? |

Basic Training |
Recruiter came (He's a Staff Sergeant) and he came with his Gunnery Sgt. We spoke for an hour and a half, he says my medical waiver has an 80% or more chance. He told me they just recently got a waiver for a similar situation to mine, who had a lower Pulmonary test percentage, so I guess that's good news.
They said they will know hopefully by next week depending on how long BUMED has my paperwork for. I'm hoping everything comes back with a good to go so I can get to MEPS for my asvab and physical. Let me tell you though, I was very impressed with these two Marines. Very professional, honest, and took pride in what they do. I am so glad that I found a recruiter and his station commander who really will work to assist with me joining the USMC. I will keep you guys informed if I am to progress or not. Wish me luck. |

Recruits: Slimy nasty garbage on one of the depots trying to become Marine's.
Recruiters: Marines whose job is to find people to enlist in the Marine Corps. Most recruiters are honorable and respectful. Its not that hard to find them. Jack ass. |

I showed this guy nothing but respect at first and what do i get a Jack ass note? Who does he think he is? He wont get anywhere far with an attitude like that. Thats why I led to my actions the end. PERIOD

Nobody is making you join the Marine Corps. If you can't handle someone calling you a jackass maybe you should take your soft skin somewhere a little kinder, gentler and more accomodating to limp wristed sensitive types,like here. Furthermore, you are nowhere near being a Marine yet. Therefore you have 0 right to mouth off to someone who is, especially on these boards. Don't respond, go read the post at the top of the Wannabe Forum titled "Basic Information" and pay close close attention to #3. |

I have been working with my recruiting staion for 3 years. I know alot of good Marines , and if you think im soft , you don't know me real well. I don't care if hes already been in the Marines. Hes starting **** for no apparent reason, and you guys cant get this through your thick minds. Maybe a moderater should close this thread down before this gets ugly.

Me,about to join the air force feels like that comment was kinda uncalled for.I respect the marines alot and considered them as well but i chose the force.every branch has a certain duty but none of the branches are soft..i agree the marines are more b@dass and tougher but it doesnt make the air force soft. |
