I haven't posted in a long while (regarding me joining) due to a medical problem I had, which is a PDQ (according to the regulations). I recently found out that it is possible to get a waiver for, and that brought my spirits up.
I remember a few members telling me a while back to chill out and stick with the basic questions - and that's what I'm doing now.
During the time I found out I possibly couldn't join, I had gotten interested in a few civilian careers in NYC (near where I'll be living during and after college), e.g. the NYPD, FDNY and especially the PAPD.
Now that I'm interested in one of these, I'd still like to pursue the Marines, however, the USMCR.
I know I can't go ROTC, because the colleges I'm looking at (all in one general area) don't have it, and given that there are other ways to commission, I'd like to stick with one of these colleges.
With that said, I know (at least from what I've read), you don't need to be prior-enlisted / reserve to commission through OCC-R. This is what I'm thinking I'll have to do. My question here is regarding PLC, however.
I can't find any info on it (Google and the forums), so can anyone tell me if there's a PLC-R course? If so, is this available to non-prior service people?
Did you ask an Officer Selection Officer(OSO)? He'd be the best authority on that matter.
I'm pretty sure that all Officers are technically USMCR unless they went to the Naval Acad. I dunno though, maybe someone who wears/wore shiny stuff on their collar can give you a better answer.
