Alright, here's the deal... I enlisted into the Air Force Reserves in March and I'm scheduled to leave for BMT in November. My recruiter called me yesterday and told me that there is a 'Financial Issue' hindering my security clearance (Which you obviously need to enlist in the Air Force) and if so, I may not be able to go through with the Air Force. FINE BY ME! It's not like i'm 10's of thousands of dollars in debt but I have a few minor debts that range from 8 years to 6 months old. I wanted to join the Marines 1st and foremost but my wife asked that I look into the Air Force before making a decision and after the bonus, incentives, ect (Which mean close to nothing to me) I reluctantly made the decision to sign. Here is my dillema now. I am a GED receipiant and am not sure if the Marine Corps (Reserves) is accepting GED holders. Based on the information I have provided, can anybody give me any insight as to what I CAN do and what the Marine Corps will allow? Thanx!

You need 15 college credits to go with your GED.

You've got to find a Reserve Unit near you and then talk to that Recruiter for specifics based on your situation and the needs of that unit. everything else is simple conjecture at this point. You've got to deal with the source direct. Best of luck.

Do your self a favor, don't look to the Marine Corps. There are only hard times for you and your Wife in the Corps.

It's best not to be married and in the Marine Corps until 10 years in. There are many hardships that only maturity can solve if then..

Ok, how many of your fellow Marines in your Unit had wife issues, even worst when you where overseas? How many of your friends where screwing other Marines wifes? Glad you are happy in your marriage, my hat is off to you. Even more it survived the Marine Corps, 60% of them dont. Best thing that happened to me was getting Dear John'ed in my 2nd year as Marine...

Never paid attention, or really cared about who was screwing who. It's called minding your own business. Probaly why we lasted so long we dont get involved with the bull$hit.

Honor, Courage, Commitment where have I heard them words before??

Is it a catchy slogan or something you really mean?

Divorce rate increases in Marine Corps, Army as wars strain marriages
By PAULINE JELINEK Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON December 2, 2008 (AP) The Associated Press

(AP)The divorce rate among soldiers and Marines increased last year as military marriages suffered continuing stress from America's two ongoing wars. There were an estimated 10,200 failed marriages in the active duty Army and 3,077 among Marines, according to figures obtained by The Associated Press for the budget year ended Sept. 30.

That's a divorce rate of 3.5 percent among more than 287,000 married troops in the Army, up from 3.3 percent in the previous fiscal year, according to Defense Department figures.

"With increasing demands placed on Army families and soldiers — including frequent deployments and relocations — intimate relationships are tested," said Army spokesman Paul Boyce.

The new data shows 3.7 percent of more than 84,000 married Marines divorced in fiscal year 2008, up from 3.3 percent in 2007. The Marine Corps called the increase statistically small and said officials would need to examine them farther

What are you doing?? Pulling numbers out of your a$$ ??

60%?? The actual numbers are 3.7.

Thats a heck of a difference dont you agree Hanson??
