i was wondering if there were any marines out there who are EOD. I enlisted and go to boot camp sept. 15th and then onto EOD school.
just wondering if there was anybody who could tell me about the schooling and the overall satisfaction of the job, I'm very anxious and was just looking for some information. Thanks.

You sure about that...the EOD school right after Boot camp thing...

Call me crazy....but i thought there was a rank requirement....

Hopefully...what ever MOS you wind up in, you pay attention in the Land Nav courses.....because you are a wannabe....and the wannabe forum is 2 clicks away....so you missed your target....

well, im one hundred percent positive that I'm going directly to EOD, the paperwork was there and i saw it. With the misplacement of the thread, im sorry but i figured more people that were eod would see it here then on the wannabes thread. Sorry for the misplacement, honest mistake of judgment. Did you mean azimuth, because i otherwise i don't know what word you mean, again, sorry but any help or information would be appreciated.

Nobody goes into EOD straight from MCT. The paperwork you saw might have you listed as an 2311, which is an Ammo Tech. The 2300 field also includes the EOD classification. Double check with your recruiter. If you are an 2311 get out of it. Unless you get stationed as a using unit tech you are going to hate life.

You have to be atleast a Corpral to be EOD. Until you make Corpral you will be counting bullets at a logistics base.

i spoke to my recruiter, and as of October of '07, if you have a high enough asvab score, there is an option to go directly to EOD. I didn't think my recruiter would lie to me, but thank you all for your help.

Every time we called EOD they were all SGTs and SSGTs with a few years under their belts. And that was just recently. I highly doubt they'd throw a Boot into EOD right after graduating MOS school. And if they did, I'm sure you'd be setting all the charges on the UXO.

Derriktr, the may be that option but myself and all the other Marines here who know a little bit about EOD think otherwise. Good luck.

thank you for your honesty, I'll talk to my recruiter about that too. I'll try to get some paperwork and copy it there and scan it here so everyone can tell me if it's true or not true.

I'm 100% positive you're NOT going into EOD after recruit training. This is the option I imagine you signed up for. Notice it doesn't say "2336 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician" anywhere in it.

Taken From MCO 1130.53P W/Ch 1

PEF/ MOS Description SEX TOE Test Scores

CJ LOGISTICS OPTION M/F 4 GT100

0400 Logistics
0411 Maintenance Management Specialist
0431 Logistics/Embarkation Specialist
0451 Air Delivery Specialist (** Guaranteed Airborne - Volunteers only **)
0481 Landing Support Specialist

2300 Ammunition and Explosive Ordnance Disposal
2311 Ammunition Technician

Program Notes:
• RS will ensure that a SF-86/EPSQ (NAC/LC) is submitted to OPM/DSS for the security clearance requirements of
this Enlistment Option prior to shipping to recruit training. Verification of submission will be documented on
DD1966/4, Section VI - Remarks. A printed copy of the SF-86/EPSQ will be placed on the documents side of the
Service Record Book when shipped to recruit training.
• U. S. Citizen
• Must be eligible for a SECRET Clearance. In fairness to the applicant, an enlistee for this program should have
reasonable assurance of being granted a Secret Clearance. To ensure a reasonable degree of success in attaining
the applicant's guaranteed option, the following prescreening prerequisites will be used in assessing the
probability of being granted a secret clearance.
a. No felony convictions.
b. No drug or moral waiver above the Recruiting Station Level. On an exception to policy basis only, MCRC may
give consideration to applicants with serious offenses provided RS and District COs believe the offense would
not disqualify the applicant from receiving a security clearance. This consideration is intended to be reserved
for applicants that would be considered a “safe risk” for clearance application. For this reason, commanders
will use strong discretion when determining if a waiver should be endorsed and forwarded to CG, MCRC (G-3) for
consideration. Such waivers are expected to be infrequent. Since MCRC must coordinate these exceptions to
policy with the Department of the Navy Central Adjudication Facility (DONCAF), the approval process will take
longer than normal. Applicants with IN-DEP drug use may retain their program at the discretion of the
Commanding Officer of the MCD.

like i said, I'll get a copy of the paperwork and I'll scan it for some information you guys see in it and what it all means. I don't know why my recruiter would lie to me, it's kind of confusing and if in fact he's lying to me I'll be supremely disappointed. and thanks oorah68.

What is your recruiter's MOS? Because I highly doubt he knows a whole lot about EOD. And its probably for your benefit that you can't go to EOD unless you got some salt on your shoulders.

WHAT? You have to have a GT score of 100 for the logistics option? How did my 30-point ASVAB-waiver arse get in? Cool
