i have a question and i have been searching for it on the wannabe section and have not found it. i would like to join the Marines in the next 2 months. I have a car loan to pay off, including, college loans, credit cards and rent and i wanted to know if the Military puts a hold on all types of loans and payments while a person is in boot camp or overseas
In regards to rent, are you planning to go active or reserves? Credit cards, car payments, college loans may be placed on hold for a certain period of time with lowered interest rates for members of the military. Remember I said "may" because certain institutions will require that you make timely payments through a powers of attorney.
i am going reserve and i still have car payments to make and rent to pay on my apartment. I think i could get away with the rent by either subletting or coming up with 3 months rent ahead of time.
My other idea is to wait until January instead because i could save money and make sure my payments are met
Pretty much guaranteed you wont be going back there unless you are infact joinnig as a reservist.
If you join the military if you give your landlord proof you are joining they have to relase you from your lease. Research the Solidiers and Sailor Relief act.
ok thank you for the advice, but i still have no idea about paying my car payment. Do you know if i can put any hold on my loans while i am away in boot camp
I used my bank's Bill Pay option to make my car payments when I was in boot camp. Look into that and see if its offered to you by your bank. It's an easy way to make sure loans get paid while your gone.

you need to google the soilders sailors civil relief act..or talk to your recruiter..basically it is against the law for anyone to not follow this act.. anyone who breaks this law can be locked up for 5 years and pay a 5,000 $ fine...
