Help, I've fallen (with 5 waivers too many) and I can't get up (and join the Marine Corps at this time).

Ok, get ready for this tough shot:
I just turned 30 (age waiver),
got a tattoo when I was 18 (medical waiver),
was born overseas in what is considered a "hostile" country that doesn't even exist anymore (f.Soviet Union - some other waiver),
in addition to all this fun, I'm trying to provide for my daughter (not so bad so far, right?) but am not currently married to my ex/baby mama of my daughter (dependent waiver),
to top it off, am getting my DUI expunged (i'm sure there is some sort of waiver for that as I have a disorderly conduct with the dui).

With that said, here are the positives:
High school diploma,
Bachelors Degree,
fluent in Russian,
know at least 2 steady trades.

Now, I've been training with Marine Corps Pooleys and have showed up for PT religiously, know that I will make a good Marine, and am fully ready to step up to the plate despite all this. Now, after about over 2-3 months of PT I'm hearing from my recruiter that perhaps I should try another branch, do like a year in the Army and then try out for the Marine Corps.
I'm told there are other applicants with less waiver requirements than I, and this is not a good time for someone in my situation.

Honestly, that's not good enough for me. I would like to higher my standards that of the USMC and not settle for any other branch.
Please don't just respond with the easy button of "talk to your recruiter" as I'm working with her on it and talking to her everytime I see her.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Edit: not to brag, but to add to the positives:
1.5mile run time: 10:36
doing 80 situps within 2 minutes
doing 6 pullups at this time

You seem like a level headed type of guy, but 5 waivers is a lot. If I were you, I would be at the recruiting office first thing 1 Oct., in time for the beginning of the 2010 Fiscal Year. If worst comes to worst, you may have to settle for another branch of service. At your age, you are more then likely not allowed to "cross deck" from the Army to the USMC. Good luck.

Wow, that was lightning fast and, thanks!

That sounds like a plan right there, sir. I'll have to bank on it for now.

To keep motivated and positive and all that good stuff, my DUI expungement is on the way;
if the tattoo is another waiver on the list, I can get it removed (trouble is paying for it, but I have a gameplan there, too).

Another another branch offer... thanks but no thanks - I've put in good time and effort and about to give much more than that.
Settling/giving up/surrendering is for someone other than yours truly.

There is a reason why all the edit: pooleys/prospects, look to me for leadership. I know that officers motto is Ductus Exemplo, so it's what I'm practicing at the moment as well.

My thoughts exactly, everything is not hugs and kisses on the Russian front.

In my opinion they'll care less if you speak Russian or not. I enlisted being fluent in Russian, had extra pay, then tried to latmove and become a linguist and no one even helped me with the clearance issue I had. So if you know a foreign language, they really don't care.

oh BOOH F'n HOO, red.
suck it up and be a Marine already.
didn't get the MOS switch? stop b1chin about it and lead by example, from the front, but not from our country and claim to have it oh so bad.

I'm not shooting for any intel nor anything other than simplicity in a challenging branch and maybe try and provide for my daughter.
Save your crying, pal - it's the Marine Corps. They need your linguistic skills, they'll tell you, not anything else.
I know more than one foreign languages anyway.

i stand by what I said very firm.
what redbeast said was basically a sobstory,

what Mr. HollywoodMarine,
GT6238, and
Logisticsguru said to me was actual and positive advice.
the fellow i was talking to didn't have much positive to say, except something negative about the Corps is all.
My topic - I'm going to voice my opinion on it.
This isn't the communist russia where I have to be afraid for every opinion i voice pal, so don't b sending me anywhere with profanity. Kinda gives away your age level and mentality..

really, folks, we don't know who is a Marine or who isn't on an electronic medium.

To explain myself, Mr. Hollywood,
I'm considering OCS, as you read in plain english where it reads: Considering Joining

thanks for the conversation and advice.
I'll make it out of boot/basic school, and hope to see you folks out in the fleet.
