About 2 months ago, roughly, I was denied entry into the Marines for hearing loss. I tried to get a waiver, and went up for a medical consult, and was denied. I am not 100% sure the exact extent of my hearing loss, they told me, but I cannot remember, but it has never been a problem for me, born with it. It is in my left ear, and my right ear is perfect.
Scored a 89 on my asvab Have never been in trouble with law enforcement Physically fit and active Intelligent and dedicated My question, is there, if at all, anything I can do from here. Anything, I wanted this more than anything, and will do whatever is necessary if there is anything more I can do. I guess that is all, I apologize if I am beating a dead horse, but when I want something I exhaust every possibility of obtaining whatever that might be... thanks in advance to whomever replies. |

Call your recruiter and ask him what the hearing loss extent was and why that DQ'd you. Leave the emotion out of it and ask him professionally. He'll also be able to tell you if there is any recourse for you.
If it comes down to you not being able to get in, there are other ways to serve your country. |

I had inner ear problems prior to enlisting, but that was in 1978. I had about a 15% loss in my right ear due to having two operations on my inner ear. I got a waiver for that and the hearing loss but once again that was in 1978. I had to get a letter from my ENT stating that I could handle rigerous Military Training.
