Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

"what up ya'll"?????
First off, if you wish to be taken seriously, lose the what up and ja know.
I was not Motor T, but one of my officers that works for me was. His truck license directly transferred over for his civilian license. It might have changed but his did.
If you want to get into Motor T, it might be a good idea to get your license before going to Boot Camp. You will probably need a regular vehicle license, and the Military License will have the endorsements for the type of vehicles you are authorized to drive.

Wife was Motor-T. None of her liscenses carried over when she got out.

If you're going to enlist in Motor-T you should have a liscense. All you need is a standard class D.

I am a Motor T operator, 3531. I am licensed in the 7ton, humvee, M931, M970, ARC, MK31, and MK970 with ammo/explosives and haz/mat certs. When I went to Ft. Leanordwood in 2005, the Marines that did not have civilian drivers license before school got their license in the school. I dont know what the instructors did, but the Marines got the License. I would help alot and relieve hardship if you got a drivers license before you go.

I am also a 3534, refueler operator which is a additional mos in motor T. I drive tractor trailers capable of refueling aircraft. It is much easier to get a CDL with the driving experience you will learn from driving tractor trailers in the Marines. But anyone can get a CDL, there is a CDL program in MCB Pandleton, and there is a CDL rep. in MCAS Miramar. I have seen those personally. I am pretty sure that other bases have the same or similar.

I suggest that all Marines print out the MOS roadmap for their MOS. That will guide you to becoming a succesful Marine in your MOS. These Roadmaps are for every MOS in the Corps and can be found in the lower right of the USMC.MIL website.

I also suggest the USMAP(United Services Military Apprenticeship Program), you get a journeyman/apprentaship certificate for logging in the hours of experience you have in Heavy Vehicle Operator(Truck Driver). I got mine in Iraq, its for 3500 hours of experience. usmap.cnet.navy.mil is the website. The USMAP website has certificates for almost all jobs in the Marines.

All of this I have done, and there are people who have been in longer than I and have less than half of what I have done. Dont be the one, do as much as you can while you are in.

S/F,
Javier
