Ok so, like everyone else I want to enlist in the Marines however, the only job I want is MP. As a female I can only be guarenteed the MOS field, 5800, which means I could get corrections...which I don't want. Sooo, I was thinking of just going Reserves so that way itll be guarenteed before I go. So will that work?

I plan on being on reserve for as little amount of time as possible then switching to active, but ive heard from some people that its close to impossible to switch from one to the other. Is that true?

Or is there some way I can just get 5811 in my contract at MEPS?

Hopefully itll work out.

If thats what you want...what did your recruiter say?

If you go Reserves...and then want to switch to active....you are going to find that it will be very difficult....and lengthy.....

you better think hard before you go that route...

Your reserve unit doesn't have to let you go active.

USMC - You signed a motherf-cking contract.

Switching from reserve to active was much harder than joining in the first place. It took 2 pretty solid years of trying. I had to go back to MEPs, the whole thing over again and the kicker is my recruiters didn't get any credit for me the second time around despite having to do all the work of a new recruit.
