OCS Forum. More info that you can possibly imagine...
Jay ----------------- additional info provided by Jay Description of every Officer MOS. Description of process to choose MOS at TBS. Breakdown of the MOS's given in a recent TBS class. MOS Information Good to go. Jay There isnt much info available to officer candidates on this site, so I figure that I may as well offer this website for everyone who didn't do their homework. ----------------------------------- Jay Thanks for the link. I'm going to make this post a sticky at the top of the forum. Another forum for OCS Candidates.
Primarily for Potential Naviators in both the Navy and Marines, but also a very good source for OCS. Jay |

May as well post these while I'm on a roll:
OCS Look at the pictures for an idea of some of the training. TBS Look at these pictures too and look at the schedule of events for an understanding of what goes down. More good stuff... Good information about OCS in general broken down barney style. May as well throw this in there as well... If you aren't a slacker you've already seen this page. More MOS info for Officers Too much information, perhaps, but figured I may as well throw it out there for everyone to see. Jay OCS-PLC-Ground Contract |

Good information on military subjects such as Land Nav, 5 Paragraph Order, drill, USMC Hymn, rank structure, etc...
USMC Knowledge If you dont study before OCS you will never get any sleep because you will be up all night learning what the stuff that you should already know. Jay |

PFT Calculator
If you are applying to PLC Jrs try not to get below 240. If you are applying to OCC try not to get below 260. Not official numbers. Minimum to be accepted is 225, but you'll be hurting hard core (and probably fail) if this is all that you get. Jay |

OCS isn't hard at all, but yeah, you need to know your general orders, rank structure (focus on the enlisted since the officer ranks are easier, and everyone is sir or ma'am). also study the code of conduct and any other facts that you wish.

What does it take to get into Marine OCS? Requirements as far as education and age I mean.

I am stationed at Quantico, and I play rugby with several people associated with OCS. One of which is a British Royal Marine who works with the physical conditioning of the canidates. I have been speaking to him, because I want to become an officer and have been concerned about my PFT score. I also know another Marine who is with mike company over at TBS and also, one of the primary instructors at OCS. We had a talk about PFT scores, and when I told them that I had a 265, that I should have no problem being accepted. This summer, OCS apparently took a canidate with a 198 initial PFT score. At the mid-term PFT, she still didn't have a first class PFT. I don't know why she was kept int he program or what, but it seems that when they tell you that you need to have a 285 to be competitive, that may not be entirely true. My weakness is my run time. I run a 21:14. Yet, at the last PFT I took. I passed many luitenents from the communications officers class i was teaching. my original goal was to beat at least one, but as the run got on, i realized that I was ahead of MANY of these young officers. I was shocked. It only boosted m confidence in going to OCS, but also motivated me to try to be an officer than can out perfom most(there are always hard chargers that can get 300 that i will prolly never be able to do) of my enlisted Marines. Anyhow, to lead from the front, you SHOULD have a high PFT score, but it is not neccessary to have one to get into OCS.

Hi.
I am young teen looking to join the Marine Corps as an officer. I have looked up information at www.marines.com and have found out about only when I am able to join, and how long I go to Quantico in the summers. Is there any other useful information from someone who has been where I am and has gone through PLC that would like to share with me. Thank you. I'm a freshman in college and was going to enlist before getting screwed with by a bad recruiter. I still want to be a marine, and I want to lead marines as a commissioned officer.. Anyone got any advice on how to get around the recruiter thing??? I don't trust them for anything except for my first one, but he's out in afghanistan now. I had a HORRIBLE expereince and incidents with the recruiter, and I wont let him stop me from becoming a Marine, but I need some advice here...

jdoughnut14,
Sorry you had such a bad experience. If you are interested in the Marine Officer Program you need to get in tough with an OSO - Officer Selection Officer. Go to www.marineofficer.com and fill out the contact information. Depending on your school, and OSO in that area will contact you. If you want to be more proactive, find out what district your school falls in and seek out the OSO. I am working on PTAD right now before I go to TBS with the Columbia, SC office. If you seek out the OSO they will give you the time of day. Lt. L |

I have a couple of questions about PLC that I was hoping could be answered.
In this little booklet I got in the mail it mentioned MCTAP. What are the criterea for recieving MCTAP and about how much money is the Marine Corps going to pay out? Also, any libo on the weekends or is it like recruit training all over again? |
