You will love where you go to school. The Marine Corps Engineer School is situated in an area of Camp Lejeune know as Courthouse Bay. It has been referred to as like a college campus, because of how it is layed out and totally self sufficient from Main-side Camp Lejeune. Close to Onslow Beach, Sneads Ferry and has its own recreational area with a Marina where you can rent boats, canoes, picnic and have a cookout.
Their facilities have been updated since I was there and then they had a great gym, running trails, circuit training and a nice flat PFT run course. Being totally self-sufficient they have their own chow hall, PX, Post office, and the usual ammenities.

It is a good job and if you are smart about it you wil sign up for the apprenticeship program they offer. That way if you decide to leave the Corps some day all your training is documented and you can go work for a union electrician shop making fat cash. You will learn the skill and you wil apply itquite possibly in Iraq helping to fix infrastructure.

Now that just sounds lovely. Were you a recruiter at one time. We always thought of it as that swamp on the way out the back gate, but then there were so many of those. Actually I heard from one of my kids, that there was a lot of work done out there, and it is pretty decent these days.

That brings up a very good point I have not seen here before.
IMHO it is a very good program that very few take advantage of. It's not pushed very much due to the fact that it requires your SNCO's to be on the ball, and many of them have never been exposed to it themselves. Best of Luck.
