At my last PT with my recruiter, all of our poolees were involved in a Kim's game.

My questions are: How often are these done in Boot, if they are done at all?

How complicated can they actually get? As in, will you be doing more than one at a time etc.

Not at all. It was a memory game with objects. My recruiter set up a bunch of random objects on his seat. We had to memorize it, than do our PT stuff for an hour or so and when we got back we had to draw it.

I've never heard of those, not even in passing between the Privates and PFC's who run the PTs on their leave. I'm curious to know if we do those, too. Maybe it's kind of like "build my house," which one of the recruiters at our RS makes us do just to prepare us for boot camp even though (according to him) we don't actually do it there.

EDIT: I'm loving the "Overconfidence" demotivational poster on your profile Razz

Never heard of a kim's game. but my recuiters like to play Marine Corps Jepordy. This is when we had 4-6 hour poolee functions. Spend the first two hours momorizing the ranks, general orders, the Marine corps Birthday traditions. Then forum up in three ranks of 10 and the recruiter would walk up and down the line like in the battalion commander inspections. as walk up to each poolee he ask a question about the material we had just studied. If you got it right off to the next poolee and question. if you got it wrong it truned in to a platoon wide smoke session. Because of one persons lack of attention everybody payed.

That seems like it would be more useful, because it would deal more with the things poolees are supposed to learn.

Thanks for liking the Overconfidence Tarebare.

There are a ton more of the demotivational posters over in the baracks forum. Thats the second place I saw the Overconfidence.

Seems like no one has heard of the Kim games so far. Big Grin Thanks for all replies though.

Kims games are very useful. They really develop your combat hunter skills (because we don't call it situational awareness any more). You'll learn a lot more about that stuff when you hit the fleet if you're Platoon Commander is worth a damn.

I can certainly try but I can't make any promises. With my busy schedule and the fact that I wouldn't know where to start looking for his office would make that task pretty hard. I do see him in the gym or walking to/from the gym every once in awhile so I'll keep that in mind.

At my poolee meetings all we got was being yelled at, some PT (PU,SU, 3MR), and a soda pop of our choosing at the end, plus a review of our records as in phone number/address. We reviewed the 11 G.O.'s as well.

To add, our school work was asked about.

Thinking games...hmm, I guess they have a purpose.

With the main method of attack by the insurgents being IED's, these "games" really help at building the skills necessary to be able to spot out of the ordinary stuff on the side of the road, threat weapons, etc.
