I realize this is probably a dumb question but I just want to make sure. To qualify for Recon i know you have to score a 1st class PFT. This just means you have to be able to before you want to try to join Recon, not at bootcamp or something like that right?

Yes.

But...

The minimums that allow you to try out for Recon will not get you through the Basic Recon Course.

You need to be a high 1st Class PFT, 1st Class swimmer, expert marksman and a whole lot of heart to get through BRC.
