You both will be kept together, but you need to be careful about who you take with you. A Drill Instructor will IT both of you even if it was just your buddy that did something wrong. If one messes up, everyone messes up.

well, I just got out, I was in the buddy program with my best bud. If you dont' tell the green belts that you're in the buddy program, you don't have to worry about crap. You should get int he same platoon. Even being in the same platoon though don't expect to shoot the **** and be all chilling in the squad bay. But having a friend does help motivate. Especially when you get to watch his butt throw up after a run.

Oh and Backus you need to change your profile to considering joining.

I did go through boot camp, but was seperated a 11 days before my company graduated, because of a torn miniscus. But in the name of civility I will change it to considering joining, even though I was in.

Trust me nothing is gonna keep me from that EGA, and hopefully company honorman, I was a squad leader and prac recruit in my platoon. I have a lot of the prac down and know what to expect.

I went to Boot Camp with a friend of mine, we got split up. About a week into training I asked about it to one of the green belts, he advised me not to ask about it as I would end up paying for it in the long run so I kept my mouth shut. We would bump into each other at chow but not say could say much, we would also bump into each other at PT as your series usually does PT together. If you do get into the same platoon do not mention your on the buddy program, tell them you recruiter did this to you....

Yeah they don't ask. DI's don't care about anything. They never ask you anything.

My friend and I left on the same day but at different times due to he was a reservest and I was active duty. I was in 3011 and he was in 3010, there was only a few hours difference in our arrivals. So if you not on the same bus don't count on it....

It dosn't sound like the buddy system is all that it is made out to be. I didn't go in with that, nor anyone I knew, but all 8 of us from Minnesota that shipped that day ended up being in the same platoon. I would think just staying by each other like the others are saying is your best bet.

They know how many are coming and break up the Platoon based on that. You will generally have 4 platoons to a series that start out with about a even amount of bodys. We started off with about 80, we graduated with 46 which 28 of us where from the orginal platoon. 1st phase you wil see alot break downs from PT, or breaking a body part, bad enlistments, discipline problems, Fat Farm, all factor into the numbers dropping.

I served in the FMF with Marines who had joined on the buddy system, including two sets of twins and a couple of cousins. MOS assignments are a factor.
