I read the Tattoo Policy thread and I was wondering when is it a good idea to get a tattoo? Should I wait until after my training is complete(meaning after Boot Camp and the MOS school)? Because I remember reading on this forum (not for sure where) that the placement of tattoos can be a problem for certain MOS's. My ship out date is Dec.1 for MCRD San Diego and I don't want to become one of those guys who get it straight after Boot but my MOS will not allow the tattoo due to placement.
For additional information, I am hoping to become a MP. If not,I would like to go Infantry. Are there different rules for tattoo placements for each MOS or is the tattoo policy universal?

You sound to me like you are considering a tattoo just because. Most people who get a tattoo have a reason. You seem to be lacking any reason to get one. So to answer your question, when you have a reason to get one and after you have determined that it will never be a problem, in your entire life.
I believe that if a person who gets a tattoo should make sure that there tattoo means something and will not regret having it 5-15 years from now. I would like a tattoo that shows how much the Marine Corps means to me,after Boot of course.
When/If I get the tattoo, I want it to symbolize how I earned the right to call my self a Marine and what I will put my body through to protect my Brothers and Sister in the Corps. If anything, the tattoo will be a promise to myself that I can look at daily and know why I had became a Marine.
Symbolize by being the best Marine you can be.....A Tatoo will not enhance you being Marine but could hold you back....
From, what I can tell the CMC does not want to see tatoo's even if your wearing PT gear. Or in other words site unseen. If you feel you need one get one after all your schools are done.....
