Basic Training |
My stepson is joining the Marines soon and trying to go weather. I've looked around and haven't found out much more than I already knew from previous work with Marines. Does the MOS have a combat side as the Air Force does (special ops support, static/halo qual), or is this another MOS? As prior AF TACP I've worked with ANGLICO and other Marine units but can't remember if there was weather support attached. I'm hoping he'll have the opportunity to experience what it's like from one end of the spectrum (garrison weather station) to the other (boots on the ground, humping a ruck, rifle, and radio).

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl. |
MOS 6821/6842
MOS 6821 Road Map The road map details what schools and assignments he should complete. MOS 0847 These three MOSs are the ones that deal with weather in the Marine Corps. 0847 deals with how weather affects Artillery, but he would only have that MOS until he reached SSgt. The 6800s cover more of the Air Wing side. |
