Hi,
My Name is David Charles, I am 17 and Live in Pike County KY.
If anyone has ever been around my area, then you know how country it is... I recently spoke with a USMC Recruiter By the name of SSTG Todd. He has been a great insperation to me, and i have made my decion to become part of the most honored Familiy in the World, The United States Marines.
I would Like to ask anyone Who is in the Marine Corps to wish me luck and to keep me in the thoughts so that they may help me threw the 13 weeks of hell that i am to encounter next year, in the mean time, so tips and other ideas on how to prepare myself would be great. I meet the physical qualifications, and am going to MEPS on the 1st of may.
wish me luck
Semper Fi,
David Charles

I forgot who said it, but luck is nothing more than when opportunity meets proper preparation.

The whole 13 weeks of Hell thing is kinda overrated, in my opinion. Not saying its a vacation, but there were times during my service in the Marine Corps that made boot camp seem like a cakewalk.

Also, there is no "preparation" for boot camp besides 2 things:
1.-- being in the best possible shape you can be in when you get there

2.-- having an attitude that you will not quit.

Its really just as simple as that. Show up to boot. Don't quit. Pin on the Eagle, globe, and anchor after 13 weeks of putting up with crap. That's it.

There are a lot of wannabes that come on here and sweat boot camp and ask all these ridiculously stupid questions ranging from "how often am I allowed to go to the bathroom" to "When do I get to laundry". And after they get out of boot camp, they look back and see how stupid it is to be reading all these "how to survive boot camp" books that do nothing more than separate anxious little idiots from their money.

Bottom Line:
Be in shape. Don't quit boot.

That's it.

I mean hell....If I could do it then any retard can.

Im pretty excited about joining, i sign may the 1st after MEPs into the delayed entry program, I figuerd that with help from a few Marines, i can get in the best physicall and mental shape that i can before i go.

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

OK Poolie, now before you go and ask questions that have been asked here a thousand times before, we would like you to do some research on your own.

Click on this link. Do some reading on your own, then come back and ask questions that will clarify your research.

You don't want to learn how to swim in boot camp. You best take Reconstan the man's advice.

I'm from Kentucky too, I grew up shooting in black powder competitions. Listen to what you PMI teaches you and take snapping in very seriously.
