This is not another lecture on using good grammar. It’s a comment on not making an effort. If you want Marines to take your questions seriously, without drawing sarcastic remarks and criticism; ask relevant, intelligent questions and learn to spell. Read some past posts. If you want to excel in the Military, you will need sound communication skills, in every MOS. Capitalize Marine and Marine Corps in your correspondence. You don’t have to be perfect, but make an effort. An occasional typo or misspelled word is fine, we all do it. If you’re a high school graduate, or going to be, you should know how to create a basic sentence. Not making an effort, or using the ever-popular internet/texting abbreviations gives Marines a negative impression about your intelligence and maturity. We have an endearing term for those who don't: Rock. If you don’t make an effort, the term is S***bird. You do not want these labels. From my experiences, you will be picked for police calls and other unpleasant jobs more frequently than your peers, your name will not be mentioned when Marines are being considered for meritorious promotion boards. Your barracks room inspection will be more stringent. Some recent examples; “……i beleave recruiter said i will stay in the hilton cant wait maybe i can watch my one night in paris at the Hilton….” And “……basicly what i wanted to know is whats meps like….”. You’re about to join the Military; it’s time to put away childish things and become a responsible, young adult. This is not an attack on you personally, just some advice I wanted to impart. We want to see Poolees and Recruits succeed. Yes, we like to boast about beer drinking, brawling, and our creating hate and discontent, but that’s just part of our persona. If you think “school is out” because you’re entering the Military, you’re sadly mistaken. Some of the brightest people I have ever met were and are Marines.
Read the lead post in this thread as it still very much applies. It's Marine or Marines people, NOT marine or marines. We're warriors, not illiterate dummies. You don't have to be perfect, just try. Read the lead post.

Hey sorry if that was taken in the wrong way, I wasnt making an attempt at humor. I am one of those people who do not take the time to proof-read. I did not mean that in a sarcastic way, my apologies if it sounded that way.
To add, but not take away from the original post. Since many of you will take that big step and enlist in our Corps, you may wonder why many of us will nit-pick about spelling and the like. You may as well get indoctrinated right here about attention to detail. If you appear to be too lazy to go that extra mile to "spell-check" etc., it reflects on you personally. No one expects you to be English majors but you must show some effort and attempt to communicate.
