Are the Assaultmen attached with a rifle squad? Or are they only in like a weapons platoon?

Assaultmen are in the weapons platoon, but when a patrol needs augmentation they are attached to the patrol temporarilly

I'm an assaultman.

I'm in a rifle platoon, my company got rid of weapons platoon and just made a 4th rifle platoon.
It would make sense, but I'm in a fireteam and I'm carrying a freakin SMAW and a pistol, but when I was in Wpns plt I had an M16.

I'm guessing when we deploy or start our work-up, I'll an M16. I hope so anyway.

Are all Assaultmen also given the 0311 training? And I also wanna know, is Assaultman a pretty sweet job?

WIth missions being what they are these days, most people in weapons platoons are being trained as 0311 as well.They need to be able to perform at patrolling and mout as well as blow things up.
That is why companies with weapons platoons have been crosstraining them.
Is it a fun job, well you get to blow things up as your primary job. You will be shooting the loudest weapon intrinsic to the infantry

Aha. Thanks alot sir. I just wanna figure out what I would like. I still want to have Rifleman first and foremost, but As i've looked over each of the Infantry MOS's the only one i really don't want, is mortarman. No offense to you mortar guys.
