Ive been thinking about joining the marines for a while now. around...idk, about since i was a really young. Im 17 now, dominican guy living in new york. My uncle was a marine, and my cousin was in the army.

If i sign up right after high school is finally done, around 2 weeks i think, or so, when will they send me to training. I still really wanna go to college, i got accepted to john jay, the only college i wanted to go to, but i want to join the marines first.

Go ask a recruiter, it will all depend on what MOS, you choose and when they need someone to ship out. None of us can give you an answer see a recruiter. but a guidline, you can be in DEP for between 6 months to a year I believe.

You can join to ship withing a week of graduating from HS, if you are already accepted for College, you can ask to sign up for something called the 92 reserve program, meaning they split your training up into two summers so that you wont miss school.

If you are thinking about Active Duty, then it wont matter, you will ship and head out to the fleet.
