so i have been on informal probation for about a year and a month now for a DUI i had over a year ago, everything has been taken care of for the DUI already.. well i talked to a recurter and she told me that i had to talk to a judg and tell him that i cant join the marines while on probation. i asked him if he can rite me off so i can join (its the only thing holding me back) and he told me no because what if at last minuet i decide not to and than i am still cleared of probation.. thats a reasonable explanation not to let me off.. he asked me to get it in writing that i am joining. so i went back to a recruter and asked them what i should do and they told me that they cant do that , and what they can do is send my stuff threw and automatically get DQ'D and than send a letter to the judge saying that i tried to join the marines and was DQ'd cuz of probation , but than i have to wait another 9 months to re sign up ... thats a long time and i dont really feel like waiting that long , what should i do??????

Ok, seriously. Take advantage of the time you have until you're off probation. Improve your physical conditioning, study up on basic Marine Corps History. Stay off the booze, and be ready to ship if/when the time comes. Good luck.

If memory serves correct, being released early from probation on condition of joining the service is an automatic DQ.

Start getting into good physical shape.

Practice your grammar and spelling.

Study for the ASVAB.

Do your time. When it's done, go see your recruiter.

Or... you could just start drinking... heavily.
