I haven't been able to find any information on this question and I apologize if it is a repeat of a previous question. I currenty support my sister and her three children. I was just curious if she would recieve any compensation if something were to happen to me after joining the Marines. I'm sure this isn't a topic that you all like to talk about, but I haven't been able to find out any information. I will be talking to my recruiter again soon, but I would appreciate any information. Thank you for any input and for your service to our country.

You decide who is the beneficiary of your life insurance policy.Think through your decision.

Thank you for the reply. I assumed that would be the case but I wanted to make sure. You're right, this isn't a decision that should be taken lightly. I have thought it through and I can't think of anything else I would rather do. I just wanted to make sure that my sister and the kids would have something to fall back on. I realize that it probably isn't that much but something is better than nothing. Thanks again for the reply.

Well, $400K isn't enough to set her up for life, but it could definitely buy her a house in most parts, or get her a annual $15-20K annuity.

He could also put more money into his life insurance thing. If I remember right its like 10-20 dollars a month per $100000 of insurance he needs.

SGLI coverage maxes out at $400K.

My mistake, must switch to a secondary life insurance provider if you choose the option. I just remember back in boot camp they explained the $400K you were automatically qualified and then asked who wanted more and such. No one bought more, but it was offered.
