derriktr... your post title is misleading. You are not a "recruit" until you've arrived at MCRD. In the mean time, stick to Poolie Trace.

You are not going to NAVSCOLEOD after boot camp. The junior rank is Cpl which was waiverable at one point to Lcpl s long as they met the criteria and were 21 years of age. This was due to certain MOS with high GT scores going away and giving Marines options to latmov for retention.

In addition, you have to be screened by an EOD SNCO/Officer and have a letter of approval prior to getting orders to school.

The Army and AF send kids right out of basic and have horrid attrtion rates at school.

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

I was in boot from nov 2007- feb 2008, I was in MRP for most of that before I was seperated for a torn miniscus. During that time the Drill Instructors would talk to us about MOSs, and you are NOT EOD until you are a Corpral. Your gonna be counting bullets. Your recruiter would lie to you, he is trying to get people in specific jobs. All of these people on here are trying to give you an answer to a question you asked. I would listen.

I would be careful about calling his recruiter a liar. Like AHill said before his recruiter is probably in the dark about EOD. Does that make him a Liar? No, just misinformed. The way that program is written is misleading. The 2300 field deals with Ammo and EOD. 2336 just isn't one of the MOS's in the enlistment option.

Zachary,
The current MOS Manual is about 400 pages. Did your recruiter know everything about the MOS you wanted? I wouldn't expect him to. Even though I was in Artillery, the only MOS I can go into any depth on is my own. From my experience, I can give examples of other MOSs that I saw/worked with while I was in. It's the same with a recruiter.

Be careful giving advice here, you may have been there, but your experience is very limited.
