Well as some of you may well know, I am Miguel(The guy who scored a 25 and could not pass the ASVAB)I just decided to take a short break from studying and actually say that I am super motivated after almost a year of being so hard on myself and thinking that i will never be Marine material. But yea I just wanted to say that I am highly motivated and looking foward to kick some ASVAB behind. After that I will be all good because I have no criminal background, no speeding tickets, no sickness(not that i know about) and well what can I say? I sit down sometimes and go on youtube and other sites and i watch a little bit of Recruit Training at Parris Island and all thatSmile

Well wannabees and Marines sorry for taking some of your precious time but I just wanted to get this out of my system Violin I am seeing major improvement by the way. I hope I'm not the only wannabee who's going through this but if I am, then im unique.God bless all of the Marines and all of the different branches. Thanks for the support and Hope to serve with you guys and gals soonSmile

You need to stop "talking the talk" before you do anything else.

Yeah, it's all good that you're moto and all, but you haven't done squat yet!

What are you doing about your education? SgtLt is right. It's cool to be motivated but the Corps is like pro sports, sooner or later you're going to end up in the open job market where there are no civilian employment opportunities for "infantry pointman." So again, what are you doing to furthur your education?

What about my education? Well the only thing that I can say about that is that right now I'm in college studying in a Digital video program. I've been there for about a year now but still have one more year to go. Yeap shooting an M16 would be rather fun, but above all I enjoy shooting a camera for film. My goal is to become a movie director and though I have a long way to go, I seem to have a strong passion for it. I was wishing that there was a film MOS withing the Corps but then again I was doing my google search and I found something on Combat Photographer but im not sure if that means that I will have a 3 chip leica lens camera with me Smile

Basically my plan is to finish this year of college and then join the Marines Reserve so that I can have two jobs. Not to mention the $20,000 loan i have to pay. I understand that the Army would pay off my loans and the Corps won't. But even though that does not change my mind. I still want to give everything I've got and try my best to join the Marines and if possible with the reserve pay that I get, I could start paying some of my loans little by little. In other words I want to have my Civilian Job as a Filmmaker and my Job in the Marine Corps as well as a reservist. Do you think that this is a good plan of attack? should i still re-think some of this? What ideas could you give me sir?

Oh by the way here's a link to a 30 secMountain Dew
spec ad that I made for a school asssignment. I Directed, acted and edited this short piece.

Ha ha ha, that was a cool clip. Hey Little Brother, do a web search to find Marine Public Affairs at Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) to see what reserve units are affiliated with film and broadcasting. Yes, there are indeed Marine and Joint Service broadcasts for everything from the news to recruiting commercials. Of course you'll still have to pass the ASVAB with a good score to qualify but once you're in you could be working either side of the camera or in the booth. It's all decided by whats available at the time you apply. Check it out, you might be surprised.
